Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has issued a telegram asking relevant ministries and agencies to adopt drastic measures to prevent and battle wildfires due to heatwaves. The prime minister also ordered the enhanced safety of the national power grid. To minimize damage caused by wildfires, the prime minister urged local authorities to beef up supervision of fire prevention and fighting operations and consider the task as a key duty. The provinces and cities should not be negligent in the fight against wildfires and must patrol fire-prone areas round the clock, according to the telegram. Moreover, authorities were told to proactively evacuate residents from dangerous areas if necessary to ensure the safety of people. Suspect held after four killed in Japan gun and knife attack
Japanese police on Friday detained a suspect who had been holed up in a building after allegedly killing four people including two police officers in a gun and knife attack, an official told AFP. Illegal construction of nearly 500 houses in Vietnam’s Dong Nai under investigation
Police in Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam on Monday said they had prosecuted a case in which 198 villas and 290 detached houses were built illegally in Trang Bom District. Police officers made the move to investigate individuals and organizations involved in the development of the Tan Thinh Urban Area. They were charged with abusing positions and powers while on duty. The People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province earlier issued results of a comprehensive inspection into the project, whose investor is LDG Investment JSC based in Trang Bom District. The province introduced an 18.22-hectare land lot for the project in 2016 and gave its nod to LDG Investment JSC to develop the urban area in 2018 to meet local residents’ demand. For Major Nguyen Van Hien, who is a member of the Bambari Operation Team, and his colleagues, it is the sincere support and sharing of international friends that have motivated them to overcome all difficulties and hardships to complete missions entrusted by the Party, State, and military. Recalling his first days in Bambari, a town in Ouaka of the Central African Republic, Major Hien said that although he had been well-prepared before being deployed to the area, he was still shocked at the harsh weather conditions which is filled with red soil and gravels. Dozens of families live in small cottages. On the way to the central area of Ouaka, he did not see any sign of medical, education, electricity, and water systems. Everything was far beyond the imagination of the Vietnamese blue beret soldier.
