The nine-member family has immigrated to Abyei and lived in a 5-6sq.m tattered tent around 300m from the company’s barracks. The Standing Committee of the Youth Union Chapter has mobilized all members to build the house from used materials to help the family soon stabilize their lives. President honors outstanding children in “Thousands of Good Deeds” movement
The event, jointly organized by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union's Central Committee, the Central Council of the Ho Chi Minh Vanguard Children's Union and the provincial People's Committee, drew 263 delegates representing 1,000 outstanding children who showed good deeds in 2023. In the six peak weeks of the movement, 66,484 activities were held nationwide, with 27,931 individuals and 4,208 collectives honored. So far, the mobile app "Em lam viec tot" (We do good things) has drawn 1.5 million children who conducted 36 million good activities. Vietnam aims for five international-standard cities by 2045
The country should have a high level of urbanization comparable to ASEAN and Asia by 2045. Vietnam aims to have at least five cities of international caliber to serve as locomotives for regional and international development networks by 2045, according to an action plan released by the Ministry of Construction (MoC) recently. Under the action plan, the ministry will execute two resolutions, one by Politburo and the other by the Government, on the sustainable development, management, and construction of urban areas in Vietnam by 2030 with a vision for 2045. International conference talks heritage’s role in sustainable development
The conference, themed “Promoting the role of world cultural and natural heritage in sustainable development in Vietnam,” was jointly held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO and the Hanoi People’s Committee. It formed part of activities marking 35 years since Vietnam ratified the 1972 Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. Vietnam’s internet ranking rises despite cable disruptions
Illustrative image (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - February's Speedtest Global Index (SGI) showed that Vietnam jumped up six places to 39th in fixed broadband speeds, despite recent disruptions to all five of its submarine internet cables suffering outages. However, the country’s mobile internet speed slipped by nine ranks to 52. The average download speed of the country’s fixed broadband is 91.6 Mbps, while the upload speed is 93.38 Mbps. These figures for the mobile internet speed are 42.67 Mbps and 18.27 Mbps, respectively. Vietnam’s internet speeds are also higher than the global average, with a download speed of 39.77 Mbps and an upload speed of 10.18 Mbps for mobile internet. The global performance in fixed broadband download and upload speeds are 78.62 Mbps and 34.39 Mbps, respectively. Many schools in Hanoi warn of student kidnapping risks
Many schools in Hanoi have issued warnings about the risks of students being kidnapped. On March 24, a nursery school in Hoang Mai District asked parents to be more vigilant about kidnapping. According to Luu Ly from Hoang Mai District’s Dai Kim Ward, a child who is in the same class of her five-year-old daughter was followed by a stranger. The child then told her building security force about the issue so his security was ensured. In another recent incident, a grade-five student from a primary school in Hoang Mai District was cheated by a strange man. The man pretended to be a motorbike taxi driver hired by the child’s mother to pick him up. Luckily, while on the bike, he saw his mother and recognised he was deceived.
