It is difficult to treat typically unsorted and highly humid waste in Vietnam. For example, trash in Europe has a humidity level of around 20%, while trash in Vietnam could have a humidity level of 60-70%, he added. Even the ongoing waste-to-energy plants in Hanoi and Can Tho would need more time so their effectiveness could be evaluated, Dung said. (Photo: Vietnam Airlines) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam Airlines ’ Flight VN384 on its way from Hanoi to Haneda (Japan) on August 8 had to return to the departing airport after more than 1 hour and 45 minutes to provide urgent care for a Japanese boy who had a health problem. The 10-year-old boy, among the 145 passengers on board, suffered a nosebleed. The flight attendant team immediately provided emergency assistance to him on the plane. However, due to the passenger's non-stop bleeding, the crew decided to return the plane to Noi Bai International Airport to seek medical support . The passenger, who was with his mother and sister, was then brought to a hospital in Hanoi. His condition has become stable. Due to the return, Flight VN384 was 275 minutes late. P/S of Unilever Vietnam and the Viet Nam Odonto-Stomatology Association have announced a collaboration agreement to prolong the Protecting Vietnamese Smiles programme to 2027. The programme is a component of a strategic partnership between the two parties to enhance oral health and reduce oral diseases by 10 per cent in Viet Nam between 2022 and 2027. Under the collaboration, the two sides will strengthen education on appropriate oral hygiene habits including organising communication initiatives to inspire 20 million people to properly brush their teeth day and night to prevent oral health issues. Storm MULAN heads toward northern Vietnam
A tropical low depression on August 9 strengthened into a tropical storm named MULAN which is travelling towards the northern coast of Vietnam, according to the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting. At 01pm on August 9, MULAN was located nar the northern part of the Hoang Sa archipelago of Vietnam, approximately 300km south east of China’s Hainan island. It was packing winds of between 62 and 74kph nears its eye. In the next 24 hours, the storm is forecast to move north and change its course into north-west at a speed of 15-20kph. In the next 24 to 48 hours, the storm is anticipated to travel west and north-west at a speed of 15kph and weaken into a tropical low depression. Northern provinces, especially those stretching along the coastal areas, have been warned about heavy rain and rough seas in the coming days. Vietnam records additional 2,340 Covid-19 infections
The Vietnamese Ministry of Health on Tuesday reported an additional 2,340 Covid-19 infections, raising the country's total tally to over 11 million. On August 9, an additional 9,520 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to over 9.99 million. On Tuesday evening, no deaths from Covid-19 were recorded. The country's total fatalities stood at 43,094, accounting for 0.4 per cent of total infections. By August 9, the country had injected more than 248 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines. The report annalysing the education sector during 2011-2020 was released at a seminar in Hanoi on August 8. According to the report, the investment in the education sector accounted for more than 18% of the total state budget expenditure, but was still lower than the set rate of 20%.
