Mui Yen Cape, situated in Hoa Thang Commune within Bac Binh District of Binh Thuan Province, is 4 kilometers away from the Bau Trang sand dune. Unlike the lively Bau Trang with lots of tourists and colorful Jeeps, Muy Yen Cape remains untamed, with limited tourism amenities. The pathway, meandering through white sand dunes, guides visitors to Mui Yen, where hills reach out to the Hoa Thang Sea. With its gentle landscape, Mui Yen is an ideal coastal camping spot for wanderers who seek to embrace unspoiled nature. On the road trip from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Yen, visitors can witness lush dragon fruit orchards. In late August, a group of travelers from Ho Chi Minh City set off on a weekend camping trip to Mui Yen. They traveled about 240 kilometers, mainly using the Ho Chi Minh City - Dau Giay - Phan Thiet Expressway. Opting for a leisurely pace, they took their time, enjoying the picturesque views en route. … [Read more...] about Coastal camping adventure: a weekend getaway at Mui Yen

TINMEL/MOROCCO -- Villagers in parts of Morocco devastated by the country's biggest earthquake in over a century camped outside for a fourth night on Monday, as the death toll rose to more than 2,800 people. Search teams from Spain, Britain and Qatar joined Moroccan efforts to find survivors from the 6.8 magnitude quake that struck in the High Atlas Mountains late on Friday, flattening the traditional mud brick houses ubiquitous in the region. State TV reported late on Monday that the death toll had risen to 2,862, with 2,562 people injured. With much of the quake zone in hard-to-reach areas, authorities have not issued any estimates for the number of missing. In the village of Tinmel, almost every house was pulverised and the entire community has been left homeless. The stench of death from dozens of animals buried under the rubble wafts through parts of the village. Mouhamad Elhasan, 59, said he had been eating dinner with his family when the earthquake struck. His … [Read more...] about Morocco earthquake death toll passes 2,800, survivors camp outdoors

Parking an expensive headache for Hanoi apartment owners
For the first time in two years, Phuong Linh in Hanoi’s Ha Dong District was able to park her car in the basement of her own apartment building after paying VND20 million to a neighbor who just moved away. Due to the limited space in the basement, Linh has been parking her car in other parking lots around her neighborhood ever since she moved to the building. Only car owners who registered early can park their vehicles in the basement, and once they move, other residents like Linh rush to purchase the right to park in the spaces they leave vacant. This means that on top of the VND20 million, she still has to pay monthly parking fees. "I have to pay a lot, but I consider myself lucky. There are 30 other residents like me waiting for the next empty parking slot." Stories like Linh’s have become increasingly popular in Hanoi, a city of 8.4 million where the number of both condominiums and cars has been surging in recent years. Manh Dung in Nam Tu Liem District last month … [Read more...] about Parking an expensive headache for Hanoi apartment owners
