Vietnam aims to build attractive, open investment environment
The Government's Advisory Council for Administrative Procedure Reform and the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) on December 12 held a high-profile dialogue conference on improving investment and trade environment in Vietnam. Ngọc Linh Ginseng Museum opens in HCM City

The museum opened in early December at No. 374 Nguyễn Sơn Street in Tân Phú District. It includes a display of Ngọc Linh ginseng tubers that are worth billions of Vietnamese đồng. Nguyễn Tấn Việt, museum director, said that Ngọc Linh ginseng, which has medicinal properties, reflects the history and culture of Việt Nam. "Having researched for years, I had a strong desire to build a museum so that others could appreciate and learn more about this precious ginseng species," Việt said. Former top cops stand trial in massive gambling case
The trial opened in the Phu Tho People’s Court in the northern province, 80 kilometers (50 miles) northwest of Hanoi. Phan Van Vinh, former director of the General Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security, and Nguyen Thanh Hoa, former director of the ministry’s Departmentfor High-Tech Crime Prevention, are charged with "abuse of power or position in performance of official duties." Vinh was arrested in April and Hoa a month earlier. They could be sentenced to 5-10 years in prison. The 90 other defendants are charged with six different crimes: gambling, organizing gambling, money laundering, and trading illegal receipts. The trial, guarded by more than 500 cops on the opening day, is expected to last for 20 days. Air pollution is a mixture of small particles and gases – some we can see and some we can’t. Vietnam’s major cities are gravely affected by poor air quality; indeed, Hanoi was ranked second worst for air quality in the Southeast Asian region in 2018 by Air Visual. Situation in Vietnam When we talk about air pollution, we are referring to: particulate matter 10 micrometers or less in diameter (PM10), PM2.5, black carbon, nitrogen oxides (NO and NO2), sulphur dioxide (SO2), ozone (O3), and volatile organic carbons (VOCs). Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City regularly exceed the safe World Health Organization (WHO) limit for air pollution such as PM2.5 and PM10. So, what is causing this poor air?
