Vietnam targets ecological, sustainable agriculture Vietnam is striving to become a transparent, responsible and sustainable producer and supplier of food and foodstuff under a draft strategy on agricultural and rural development for 2021-2030 with a vision towards 2050. The strategy, which was sketched out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), targets ecological and sustainable agriculture. Vietnam’s commitments at the United Nations Food Systems Summit and the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) have been integrated into the strategy. Vietnam tourism sector has been open for vaccinated foreign travelers to key tourist destinations of Nha Trang City, Phu Quoc Island, Quang Nam Province, Da Nang City, and Quang Ninh Province from November 2021. The five-year, up to USD 36 million project was first announced during U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris’ visit to Vietnam in August 2021. The project will be implemented in cooperation with MPI’s Agency for Enterprise Development. Small and growing businesses are key contributors to Vietnam’s economic growth, accounting for 40% of GDP and 60% of total employment in 2018. However, these businesses face barriers and constraints impeding their continued and sustained growth, including new technologies, networking, market linkages, and lack of access to management training and skills building opportunities. Accordingly, the Governor has required banks to take necessary measures for controlling credit size and growth, focusing loans on production and priority fields in accordance with the Government's policy to support economic recovery and development, while strictly controlling loans for potentially risky areas such as real estate, the stock market, Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) and Build-Transfer (BT) transport projects.
