A South Korean man was arrested on Monday at HCM City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport with more than 400 second-hand mobile phones. The airport customs officers with the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department, under the General Department of Vietnam Customs, to check the 35-year-old South Korean man’s luggage, finding the phones. The second-hand mobile phones were seized at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on May 20 The phones bearing iPhones, Samsung and LG brands are worth around a total VND3 billion (USD130,434). South Korean man arrested with 400 used mobile phones at Saigon airport
The 35-year-old man, whose name has not been disclosed, was stopped at the airport after customs officials found 418 used cell phones worth VND3 billion ($128,180) in his luggage. Among the phones were brands popular in Vietnam, like iPhones and Samsung, media reports said. The man failed to declare the phones he was carrying in his luggage, customs officials said. Police are investigating the incident. Earlier this year, another South Korean man was arrested at the same airport smuggling 200 used cell phones into the country. In 2017, a Ho Chi Minh City court sentenced two South Korean men to three years in jail each for smuggling 96 used cell phones to Vietnam. Vietnamese regulations require mobile phone importers to register for quality inspections with the Department of Telecommunications. Oxygen tank explosion kills two, injuries three at Hai Duong firm
An oxygen tank exploded at Lilama 69-3 Company in the northern province of Hai Duong, leaving two dead and three others injured. Dao Viet Khuay, deputy director of the company located in Tu Ky District, the incident happened at around 3 pm, killing Nguyen Minh Duc, 38, and injuring four others Pham Manh Cuong, 38, Pham Van Chuc, 44, Nguyen Van Ben, 29 and Pham Van Nhat, 37. Lilama 69-3 Company where the incident happened At 9 pm on the same day, Pham Van Nhat also died due to serious trauma. The injured people are staying at Hai Duong General Hospital for the treatment. Overloaded infrastructure hinders development of Vietnamese aviation industry
The combined capacity of the 22 airports in Vietnam is just equal to that of one single airport like Changi in Singapore, Suvarnabhumi in Thailand or KLIA in Malaysia.
