Localities urged to step up vaccination against Covid-19

As of May 21, more than 219 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered nationwide. The number of vaccines received by the MoH is enough to give the 3rd and 4th shots for people aged 18 years and older who are eligible for vaccination, it said. Another molnupiravir drug authorized for use in COVID-19 treatment

This is the fourth Molnupiravir-based drug produced in Vietnam to be authorized for use in the country. The DAV orders manufacturers to adhere to documents registered with the Ministry of Health; coordinate with treatment facilities to strictly comply with current regulations on prescription drugs, monitor the safety, effectiveness, and unwanted effects of drugs on Vietnamese people, as well as compile reports according to regulations. At the same time, the DAV also requested local departments of health notify medical examination and treatment facilities, medical staff, and drug suppliers in the area to inform patients of the benefits and risks when using Molnupiravir, including treatments, as well as alternatives for Molnupiravir in the treatment of COVID-19. Border gates are sked to be strictly controlled to prevent monkeypox outbreak. Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long asked local healthcare facilities to coordinate with the Institutes of Hygiene and Epidemiology and Pasteur Institute to diagnose monkeypox cases and strengthen prevention and control measures of monkeypox. The World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed a rise in monkeypox cases in several countries. The first case of monkeypox was reported in the UK on May 13. At least 92 monkeypox virus cases have been confirmed in countries, including the US, the UK, Germany, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Sweden and others. Hanoi accelerates construction of smart urban projects

Daily consumption in April was estimated at 779 million kWh while load power stood at about 42,124 MW, rising 5.3 percent year on year. Difficulties are likely to linger on this season in terms of coal supply for thermal power plants .
