ASEAN, ASEAN+3 Information Ministers to gather in Da Nang

The events, hosted by Vietnam, will see nine other members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) participate, Timor-Leste as an observer, and three partner countries – Japan, the Republic of Korea, and China, the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) told a press conference in Da Nang on September 18. The meetings, themed “Media: From Information to Knowledge for a Resilient and Responsive ASEAN,” will discuss orientations for the ASEAN cooperation in information and communications. They will also develop a cooperation mechanism for coping with fake news in the internet, the promotion of digital transformation in the press and communication sector, application of modern technologies to the sector, and the promotion of information provision across ASEAN and for the dialogue countries, the MIC said. International volunteers build houses for the poor in Phu Tho

International volunteers from Habitat for Humanity have joined the “Vietnam Big Build 2016” project to build houses for 20 poor families in Tam Nong district, northern Phu Tho province. The project drew the participation of more than 200 volunteers from Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Australia, United States, New Zealand and Vietnam. International volunteers build houses for the poor in Phu Tho (Photo: habitatvietnam.org) On the occasion, Habitat for Humanity also supports 45 million VND (2,000 USD) for families of the project. Habitat for Humanity is a non-government organisation which has operated in Vietnam for 15 years. The organisation supported more than 13,600 low-income households nationwide. Hanoi, Shenzhen eye partnerships in urban and public transport development

Prime Minister meets leaders of US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations

(VNA) – The establishment of the Vietnam -US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for peace, cooperation and sustainable development will open up a new period for the enhancement of bilateral relations across spheres, including cooperation between the two legislative bodies, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said at a meeting with leaders of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in Washington D.C. on September 19.
