The province reported six new locally transmitted Covid-19 cases this evening, March 6 - PHOTO: MINISTRY OF HEALTH HCMC - The Ministry of Health has confirmed six new locally transmitted Covid-19 cases in the northern province of Hai Duong, sending Vietnam’s caseload to 2,507 as of this evening, March 6. Since late January, the province has reported 707 Covid-19 infections. Three of the six new cases were reported in Kim Thanh District and three others in Kinh Mon District. All of the new cases had come into contact with Covid-19 patients and had been quarantined before testing positive for Covid-19, posing no risk of community transmission. They are being treated at the Field Hospital No. 3 - Hai Duong Province General Hospital’s second branch. Vietnam has reported 891 locally transmitted Covid-19 cases in 13 cities and provinces since January 28. To date, 1,920 Covid-19 patients in the country have fully recovered. Equity investment in Vietnam reaches new peak

Vietnam reports most impressive growth in financial services regionally, particularly in the banking sector Global equity investment shed 13.1 per cent in the total number of transactions and plunged 33.8 per cent in total transaction value in the first half last year, compared to the corresponding period in 2019. Within the ASEAN-5 and Vietnam, equity transactions were slowing down last year compared to a robust 2019. The number of transactions dropped from 230 cases in the second half of 2019 to 200 cases in the first six months of 2020, meanwhile, the transaction value was curtailed by more than half, from $9.15 billion to just $4.3 billion. Amid chaos and uncertainties due to the coronavirus pandemic, Vietnam’s equity investment market has set a record with 59 transactions valued at $1.14 billion, a slight increase compared to 2019. Technology has maintained its growth momentum setting a five-year record in the number of transactions. Investments have channelled into fresh tech startups which provide breakthrough solutions in retail and services, such as booking and placement of online healthcare consultation, e-commerce, and provision of recruitment and human resource platforms, among others. The scale of transactions was, however, modest as most of the ventures targeted Vietnam’s fledging tech startups. A series of sectors have been showing bright investment prospects in the beginning of 2021, including logistics, education, healthcare, technology, and renewable energies. Companies in retail and services related to breakthrough solutions were also high on the investors’ radar. For instance, the leading US equity fund Warburg Pincus poured $100 million into MoMo’s e-wallet which had 20 million users in 2019, and $130 million came from Singapore-headquartered private equity firm Northstar Group directly into Tiki’s pockets – one of Vietnam’s three leading e-commerce platforms in 2020. Vietnam records six new COVID-19 infections on March 6 evening

All the new patients had been previously quarantined and are being treated at a COVID-19 treatment hospital in Hai Duong province. By the evening of March 6, Vietnam had recorded a total of 2,507 COVID-19 patients, including 1,584 domestically-transmitted cases. Up to 891 domestic infections have been detected since the third wave of outbreaks hit the country on January 27. The Treatment Subcommittee said that 1,920 patients have recovered from the disease to date, while the number of deaths related to COVID-19 was still kept at 35. Among active patients undergoing treatment, 65 tested negative to the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, 57 twice and 137 thrice. As many as 49,565 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions are currently under quarantine nationwide, including 1,290 in hospitals, 14,199 in other establishments and 34,076 at home.
