This marks the second time that the Vietnam National University in Hanoi has made it into the world’s top 801 to 1,000, in addition to being the sole Vietnamese representative to make it into the top 1,000 of THE’s World University Rankings 2021. Furthermore, the 1001+ list sees the inclusion of two other institutions from the nation, including the Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City. The latest version of the World University Rankings includes more than 1,500 universities from across 93 countries and regions, therefore making them the largest and most diverse university rankings table to ever be published. The results of the table are based on 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across four areas, namely teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. Leading the way in the rankings, the University of Oxford tops the list for the fifth consecutive year, followed by Stanford University, Harvard University, the California University of Technology, and Massachusetts University of Technology. On the same day as the release of the Time’s rankings, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), an education organisation based in the UK, announced that the Vietnam National University in Hanoi has been named in the top 801 to 1,000 universities globally, marking the third consecutive year the institute has received this recognition.
