A program, “Green Tet - The Kitchen God hates Nylon”, will take place at the Hanoi Pupil-Student Cultural House in Hanoi on January 16 th (December 23 rd on the Lunar Calendar, the Kitchen God Festival) with the aim at controlling the amount of plastic and nylon thrown in rivers and providing a fresh environment to Hanoians in Lunar New Year 2012. The event, part of the “I Hate Nylon” project, will see the presence of goodwill ambassadors, singer Ngoc Khue and MC My Linh. During the event, goodwill ambassadors will share messages of the program and cycle from Thong Nhat Park to Hoan Kiem Lake with volunteers. Apart from cycling, there will be team activities such as: flash-mob dance, letter setting and photographing and so on. An international aviation expo (Aero Expo Hanoi) & Vietnam Aviation Forum 2023 is scheduled to take place in Hanoi on March 21, said the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade at a press conference on January 16. Perhaps the biggest turning point in Nguyen Phan Que Mai’s life was the morning she woke up to an email from her literary agent with an offer from Algonquin Books – a New York-based publisher – to publish her very first English-language novel “The Mountains Sing.” A dream Mai, originally from Ninh Binh Province in northern Vietnam, wrote “The Mountains Sing” as a way to spread Vietnamese literature and culture by recounting the story of a Vietnamese family’s journey through the twentieth century, including their trials and tribulations during the French Colonial period, the separation of the North and the South, the Vietnam War, and the present day. Her inspiration for the novel was a deep frustration that language barriers were a major obstacle for international readers who wished to access Vietnamese literature.
