Ministry steps up scientific research for COVID-19 prevention

Testing samples to detect COVID-19 infection (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Science and Technology has said it is intensifying studies serving COVID-19 prevention and control, particularly those on vaccine production. It will prioritise cooperation with competent agencies in Vietnam and international partnerships in the import, research and production of COVID-19 vaccines , it noted. The body said it is also working with relevant units in offering information on the pandemic developments. Since the first outbreak detected in Vietnam, the ministry has joined scientists to conduct studies on epidemiology, virology, treatment regimens, especially the production of the virus test kits. Such work laid the basis for current mass production of the kits. Vietnam logged three more COVID-19 cases on February 23 morning, raising the country’s total community infections to 1,496, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. Vietnam is one of the 40 countries that have conducted human trials of a COVID-19 vaccine. The nation expects to have 80 percent of its population vaccinated against COVID-19. Vietnam has 21 COVID-19 cases to report on February 10

Taking samples for COVID-19 testing at the Hai Ba Trung district Medical Centre in Hanoi (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam recorded 21 COVID-19 infections in the past 12 hours to 6pm on February 10, including 20 locally-transmitted cases, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. Among the community cases, 14 were in the northern province of Hai Duong, four in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai, and one each in Ho Chi Minh City and the northern province of Quang Ninh. The imported case, a 31-year-old Indonesian expert, was quarantined immediately after arrival in Ho Chi Minh City. The national count now reaches 2,091, with 1,197 local cases. Six more patients were given the all-clear, raising the total recoveries to 1,480, while the number of fatalities remained at 35. Among patients still under treatment, 18 have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once, 11 twice and four thrice. More than 114,796 people are being quarantined across the country./. VNA …

No new COVID-19 cases recorded on February 14 morning

(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has detected no new cases of COVID-19 in the past 12 hours to 6:00am on February 14, keeping the national count of local infections at 1,297, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control. As many as 152,690 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or came from pandemic-hit areas are under quarantine nationwide. including 683 in hospitals, 18, 232 in state-designated establishments and 133,775 at their residences. The number of recoveries stands at 1,531, the committee’s treatment sub-committee reported. Among the active patients, 39 have tested negative for the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, 12 twice and nine thrice. The Health Ministry urges people to strictly follow the "5K" principle to stop the spread of the pandemic - Khau trang (Facemask) – Khu khuan (Disinfection) – Khoang cach (Keeping distance) – Khong tap trung dong nguoi (No mass gathering) – Khai bao y te (Medical declaration)./.
