At present, data on net users in Vietnam has been used extensively for profit, while there is insufficient legal framework to manage the use. There have even been cases when the data were used for political schemes or law violation. Presidential Office announces order to promulgate seven laws
Law on Cyber Security was adopted at the fifth meeting of the 14th National Assembly with 86.86 percent of approval votes (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Presidential Office on June 28 announced President Tran Dai Quang’s order to promulgate seven laws, including the laws on cyber security, national defence, denunciation and competition. The promulgated laws are the Law on Cyber Security, the Law on National Defence, the Law on Denunciation, the Law on Competition, the law amending 11 articles related to planning, the Law on Surveying and Mapping, and the law amending some articles of the Law on Physical Training and Sports. NA deputies vote to approve the Law on Cyber Security (Source:VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The freshly-passed Law on Cyber Security will not hinder activities of people and businesses, affirmed Major General Nguyen Minh Duc, Director of the Institute of Police Science under the People’s Police Academy. Discussion regulations in the law that require user data and important data related to national security to be stored in the country, and all enterprises doing business in cyberspace related to Vietnam to establish headquarters and representative offices in Vietnam, the officer said they are feasible and in line with domestic law and international practices. US officals ‘flew to N.Korea’ before rocket launch
Two senior US officials made a secret visit to North Korea last month in an apparent attempt to persuade it to cancel an upcoming long-range rocket launch, a South Korean report said Thursday. A US Air Force Boeing 737 flew from Guam to Pyongyang with the officials via the Yellow Sea on April 7, six days before the launch went ahead, Chosun Ilbo newspaper cited a diplomatic source in Seoul as saying. Experts speculate the aircraft carried Sydney Seiler, a National Security Council adviser to President Barack Obama, and Joseph DeTrani, director of the National Counter-Proliferation Centre, it said. The report was one of several carried by South Korean media, although government officials and the US State Department have refused to comment. Yonhap news agency also said the plane carried DeTrani, who organised former President Bill Clinton's visit to Pyongyang in August 2009 to secure the release of two female American journalists.
