Dialogue discusses wildlife conservation efforts
The event, under the framework of the USAID-funded Saving Threatened Wildlife project, was jointly organized by the Management Board for Forestry Projects - MARD, WWF and TRAFFIC in collaboration with the Training Center for Elected Representatives under the Board of Deputy Affairs-Standing Committee of the National Assembly. “The Saving Threatened Wildlife project thrives for comprehensive, systematic and impactful efforts to reduce the demand for illegal wildlife products. Prime Minister presides over Government’s March law-making session
In the immediate future, it is necessary to focus on building and completing law-making proposals to submit to the National Assembly (N.A.) for consideration and approval of the Law and Ordinance Building Program in 2024, as well as adjustments of the Law and Ordinance Building Program in 2023 for the N.A. Standing Committee and the N.A. for discussion; and draft laws and draft documents to submit to the legislature for consideration and approval at its fifth plenary session. Government members, ministries and sectors, especially their heads, need to do better in law-making; continue to direct and lead the building of and comment on draft legal documents; and allocate resources in terms of human and funding for the law-building work, the Prime Minister requested. Foreign tourist arrivals in Vietnam skyrocket in Q1
The first quarter figures were around 60% of pre-pandemic levels and one-third of this year's 8-million target, according to a report released by the General Statistics Office (GSO) on Wednesday. The number is less than half of Thailand's 6.15 million arrivals. Arrivals from Asian countries to Vietnam surged 33 times year-on-year to 1.93 million, accounting for over half of total foreign arrivals in the first three months of this year, according to the GSO report. Tourists from Europe increased by 23 times to 385,000. Following repeated calls from industry insiders to relax immigration policies, the government announced it will ask the National Assembly, Vietnam's highest legislative body, to resume the three-month visa policy for foreigners entering Vietnam. The National Assembly's next meeting is in May. At present, the country only offers a one-month, single-entry e-visa to visitors from 80 countries.
