Map of three Ring Roads The Ring Road No.4 project has a length of about 200 kilometers, connecting HCMC with neighboring provinces of Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An, and Vung Tau. It runs from Bien Hoa-Vung Tau expressway in Phu My Town in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province to Hiep Phuoc Port in HCMC. The section passing through HCMC is 17 kilometers; Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province is 18 kilometers, Dong Nai Province is 45 kilometers, Binh Duong is 49 kilometers and Long An is 71 kilometers. The Prime Minister previously asked HCMC and the provinces of Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Long An and Ba Ria-Vung Tau to implement the works of the sections running through every locality. Another section of Hanoi Ring Road No.3 opens to traffic
The “Hanoi City Ring Road No.3 Construction Project (Mai Dich - South Thang Long Section)” aims to construct a high-standard inner-city expressway in the western section, connecting the Mai Dich intersection and the South Thang Long intersection of Ring Road No.3 which links northern and north-eastern provinces, industrials zones and Noi Bai International Airport with the city center. The 5.4-km section has 4.8km of viaduct. Hanoi prepares for 3.7 billion USD Ring Road No.4 project
Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung said that the city had set up a steering committee for building Ring Road No.4 after the National Assembly issued a resolution on the project. As the governing body, the Hanoi Party Committee directed offices to draw up a plan of investment for the road's construction. The plan had been sent to the provinces of Hung Yen and Bac Ninh for comment. Dung asked localities to show determination, solidarity, focus and coordination with ministries and central agencies to implement the project well. According to Deputy Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Duong Duc Tuan, the investment policy for the project was approved by the National Assembly in Resolution No.56/2022/QH15 dated June 16, 2022, with a scale of 112.8km and the total preliminary investment was 85.813 trillion VND (3.68 billion USD). VEC proposes to expand HCMC-Long Thanh expressway in advance of 2025
The traffic volume on Ho Chi Minh City- Long Thanh- Dau Giay expressway increased by an average of 10 percent a year. According to the MoT, after the Ho Chi Minh City- Long Thanh- Dau Giay expressway was put into exploitation, the traffic volume passing through the expressway increased by an average of 10 percent a year. Currently, the flow of vehicles through the section from the An Phu intersection in Ho Chi Minh City to the Long Thanh intersection exceeds the road's capacity. Therefore, studying the investment plan to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway is necessary in accordance with the approved plan. Recently, the Vietnam Expressway Development Investment Corporation (VEC) proposed a plan of continuing investment and expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh expressway, from Ring Road No.2 in Ho Chi Minh City to the Long Thanh intersection, from the current four lanes to eight lanes. Constant re-planning of transport projects in Vietnam

In a pattern that seems to have prevailed for years, a transport project is usually put into operation soon after its inauguration, but then within a short time there is a need for its expansion or upgrade. What is more surprising is that even projects that are still under construction are being reconsidered for expansion or an upgrade. Such as in the case of the Hanoi Highway which has been expanded four times and still not complete. It may be that this Highway may even be further expanded. The Ho Chi Minh City to Long Thanh to Dau Giay Expressway was started in 2009 with an original design plan of four lanes, then soon after increased to six lanes and now being considered for eight lanes. For all we know it may also be extended to twelve lanes soon. The 17 km long metro line 1 has not yet been put into a trial operation but is being considered for an extension to include the route to Binh Duong and Dong Nai provinces.
