The 2-2 draw on Friday ended Lam’s streak of six straight clean matches at AFF Cup 2022. The 30-year-old successfully blocked all scoring attempts from Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, and Myanmar in the group stage, and Indonesia in the semifinals. Human trafficking victim Tran Thi Chieu's favorite foods are still local dishes from her home country. Although she’s been away for 28 years, she said that the scenery in her hometown of Nghia Hoa Commune in Lang Giang District is still exactly as it was when she left. Pham Xuan Mai, Chieu’s 37-year-old youngest son, remembers vividly the moment he received a call from his mother in China more than a year ago. “I will definitely return to Vietnam!”
The wholehearted spirit of athletes in the competition left a deep impression on the participants, especially those from Congolese contingents. According to the results of the lot drawing, the Congolese team competed with athletes from Myanmar. Even though Congolese athletes finished their competition nearly an hour later than their rivals, they still carefully performed each part of the event. They also brought a singing and dancing performance to the field to serve the audience, international friends, and the jury, showing their competitive spirit and fair play sportsmanship even though they did not win the competition. Their enthusiasm and optimism helped all people forget tiredness and harsh weather conditions in the field. The power of music, lyrics, and singing erased all boundaries of language, skin color, even the inherent loss in a normal competition. On that day, during the break time, I met First Lieutenant Koutatouka Jurdelein Brown, Head of the Congolese contingent. … [Read more...] about “I will definitely return to Vietnam!”

The vessel, the 6,651-tonne Hong Kong-registered "Jintian", issued a distress call late on Tuesday, the Japan Coast Guard said. Media reported a person on the ship said it was listing and taking on water, and later reports said the 22 crew members - all Chinese or Myanmar nationals - had transferred to lifeboats. There was no immediate word on what caused the vessel, which was carrying lumber, to capsize. A Coast Guard spokesperson said winds were strong at the time the distress signal was received at around 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Coast Guard immediately sought assistance from patrol ships and aircraft in the vicinity, the west of Nagasaki city, top government spokesman Hirokazu Matsuno said.
