The soldier of dual Greek and Vietnamese citizenship is the only foreigner bestowed the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by the state of Vietnam. The ashes of Kostas Sarantidis Nguyen Van Lap, who held dual Greek and Vietnamese citizenship, were repatriated to Vietnam today [August 2] from his hometown of Thessaloniki, Greece. The repatriation was made following his will to return to the country which is home to his comrades’ resting place. The memorial service for Kostas Nguyen Van Lap took place on Tuesday morning at Military Zone 5, Danang City, Vietnam before the burial ceremony was held at Military Zone 5 Cemetery. Large pumps sucked water from a flooded coal mine in Mexico on Saturday as authorities weighed whether to send divers to try to save 10 miners who have been trapped underground for more than three days. The miners became trapped at a mine in the northern border state of Coahuila on Wednesday afternoon when their excavation work caused a tunnel wall to collapse, triggering flooding in three wells. President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said Saturday would be "decisive" in determining whether divers could safely enter the mine. The obstacles are related to many legal regulations, such as the Law on Housing 2014, Law on Real Estate Business 2014, Law on Land 2013, and Law on Construction 2014. Although the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has directed relevant departments, branches, districts, as well as Thu Duc City authorities to coordinate and consider proposals to resolve many pending issues, it seems that it is still very difficult to follow up on projects without amending the Laws.
