What does the famous Ha Giang Loop in northern Vietnam have to offer?

To many, the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang is a bucket list item - not only for its cuisine and beautiful landscapes but also for the poetic and adventurous roads which wind through its majestic landscapes. To get to Ha Giang, most visitors take a night bus from Hanoi and make it to the city by dawn, when thin lights begin to peak over nearby mountain tops and drive the cold away. Photo: Phuong Tran / Tuoi Tre News From there, a short bus ride is needed to reach Dong Van Town, where many tourists choose to begin their trip. As Dong Van is a mountainous locality with limited access, it would not be a surprise for travelers to find themselves sitting on unbelievably crowded bus, especially during high tourism seasons. After arriving, many choose to explore the locality on a motorbike rented from one of several services available in Dong Van. Dong Van’s old town is home to the area’s best accommodation. The neighborhood is filled with historic wooden houses that have been remodeled to welcome guests who wish to experience the local lifestyle. Photo: Phuong Tran / Tuoi Tre News In the evenings, tourists can check out the night market for a taste of local specialties, such as “thang den” (a sweet dessert of rice flour balls cooked in a sugar water with sesame seeds and peanuts), “banh tam giac mach” (a cake made from buckwheat), grilled meat served with “com lam” (grilled rice stuffed in bamboo sticks), and “chao au tau” (porridge cooked with “au tau” - a local herb). Visitors should also be sure to check out Lung Cu Commune, about 40km from Dong Van, where there are dozens of opportunities to experience the lifestyle of the ethnic Lo Lo people. The Black Virgin Mountain – a spiritual destination for Buddhist in Spring 2021

The Hanoitimes - The 300-year-old pagoda and the Buddha statute atop the highest mountain in the Southeast is a favorite spiritual destination of locals and Buddhists in the spring. Situated at 986 meters above sea level, Nui Ba Den or Black Virgin Mountain is considered as the rooftop of Vietnam southern area. The mountain, covered by white clouds all year round, is an indispensable spiritual destination for Tay Ninh people and Buddhists in the regions every Tet Holiday and Spring. In early days of Spring, the whole scenery of the sacred Black Lady mountain is magically beautiful with thousands of colorful blooming flowers underneath the thin layer of mist. This Tet holiday of the buffalo is also a special Tet for locals as a wonderful giant statute of Buddha is inaugurated, adding a new spiritual monument to the site. With a total height of 72 meter, cast with more than 170 tons of bronze, the Buddha statute has been recognized as “Asia’s highest copper structure located on a mountain’s peak” and “The tallest bronze Buddha statue in Vietnam located on a mountain’s peak” by the World Guinness Records. Standing on the mountain top amid the white clouds, Buddha Lady directs her compassionate eyes towards the fertile Tay Ninh plain giving blessings and peace to the people and the nation. Along with Chua Ba (Lady Pagoda), Black Virgin Mountain is a famous sacred destination throughout the Southern region. PM gives Tet present Vietnam football head coach Coach Park Hang-seo The head coach of the Vietnamese national football team, Park Hang-seo has just received a present from PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc for the Lunar New Year Festival.  The head coach of the Vietnamese national football team, Park Hang-seo has just received a present from PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc for the Lunar New Year Festival. Coach Park Hang-seo said that he would come back to work soon and try to work hard to improve the national team’s results. Coach Park Hang-seo arrived in Hanoi on February 3 after a holiday in his home country of South Korea. He was now on a 21-day quarantine period for Covid-19 prevention following regulations from the Vietnamese government. Under the leadership of coach Park Hang-seo, the Vietnamese national football team finished as runners-up at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U23 Championship, champions of the AFF Cup 2018, qualified in semi-finals of the 18th Asian Games and made the 2019 Asian Cup quarter-finals. PM calls for strong local COVID-19 response Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, and other major cities where COVID-19 cases have been confirmed should take strong measures to effectively prevent the spread of the pandemic within the community, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said on February 8. Such measures include social distancing in line with the PM’s Directives No 15 and 16 in case of a worsening situation, the PM said at an online meeting of permanent Cabinet members. The Ministry of Health (MoH) pointed out the high risk of the pandemic spreading as there remain sources of infections yet to be detected in major cities, especially in baggage and cargo handling services at HCM City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport. It reported that all 7,300 employees at the airport have been tested and five of them were positive for the coronavirus. Twenty-four related cases were also found later.
