Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs proposes adding a group of people to join compulsory social insurance (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) has proposed to add a group to the list of people paying compulsory social insurance. The group includes individual business households , business managers , unpaid managers of cooperatives and part-time employees. According to the ministry, the Law on Social Insurance still misses this group of people who have the need and ability to participate in compulsory social insurance. The ministry is collecting experts' opinions on the draft amended Law on Social Insurance to expand coverage. There are now more than 5.1 million business households across the country, six times larger than the total number of enterprises. Measures to support UXOs victims discussed
A workshop discussing measures to support people suffering the con sequences of unexploded ordnance (UXO) left over from the war in Vietnam took place in Hanoi on December 4. The event was organised by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) in conjunction with the Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation under the International Centre (IC-VVAF) and t he US organisation Clear Path International (CPI). In her opening speech, MoLISA Minister Pham Thi Hai Chuyen explained the dangers caused by UXOs in Vietnam. Since 1975, about 6.6 million hectares of land, equivalent to over 21 percent of the country’s land area, has been covered by 800,000 tonnes of UXOs. Preliminary statistics show that UXOs have claimed more than 40,000 lives and left about 60,000 injured, mostly rural people and children, over the last four decades. The Ministry of Labour , Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) is responsible for offering instructions to enterprises operating labour services to Malaysia under contract. During the effective period of the MoU, guidance on changes related to Malaysia's foreign labour admission policies will be provided for enterprises. Regarding labour management, enterprises sending workers to Malaysia are responsible for arranging and managing workers in accordance with the signed contracts and provisions of the Law on Contract-Based Vietnamese Overseas Workers. During the effective period of the MoU, guidance on changes related to Malaysia's foreign labor admission policies will be provided for enterprises. Regarding labor management, enterprises sending workers to Malaysia are responsible for arranging and managing workers in accordance with the signed contracts and provisions of the Law on Contract-Based Vietnamese Overseas Workers. They must also closely work with the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia in the management of workers. The MoLISA must instruct the management board for workers and experts in Malaysia and enterprises how to implement the MoU. The Vietnamese side must partner with Malaysia to establish a joint working group to monitor the implementation of the MoU, hold the annual and ad hoc meetings to discuss arising issues during the implementation.
