Photo by Reuters The ministry is seeking public opinions for its proposal to impose a ban on beer advertisement, an extension from a current ban on wine advertisement, Tran Thi Trang, deputy head of the ministry’s legal department, said at a meeting on May 25. Under the proposal, beer and alcoholic beverage companies would be banned from any form of promotions of products with more than 15% alcohol. Products with lower alcohol volume would be banned from advertisements in public places, televisions and movies, those which are exposed to children audiences. "Vietnam has been considered an interesting beer market. But we currently do not have strict regulations to restrict the consumption among children and teenagers, who now have all-time access to beer advertisements," Trang said. (Photo: VNA) Bangkok (VNA) – The Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC) of Thailand is planning to introduce compulsory travel insurance for foreign visitors at a 20 THB (0.65 USD) premium each in 2019. The scheme is initiated to enhance foreigners’ confidence after a string of tragedies involving foreign tourists, such as the boat accident off Phuket that claimed the lives of 47 Chinese in 2018. Foreign travellers will be required to pay for the insurance at airports’ immigration offices, while the premium will be directed to Thailand’s Tourism Promotion Fund for coverage of payments in the event of claims. The compulsory travel insurance will offer up to 1 million THB of coverage in cases of death. Around her dozens of other workers are making bags on sewing machines, but not Bien: Her job is to affix the company label on the bags, and she gets less than VND100,000 ($4.32) a day for it. She was given that job after failing to learn sewing despite eight days of training at the factory. "It's too difficult, I can't sew," she says.
