Vietnamese club make strong comeback in AFC Cup opener
Even when missing captain and defender Bui Tien Dung, Viettel’s squad power is still considered stronger than the opponent. The capital club showed domination right in the first minutes with consecutive shots from striker Geovane Magno. However, it was Young Elephants who scored first with a tap-in from Bounphachan Bounkong in the 6th minute. Conceding early affected the mentality of Viettel players as in the next 30 minutes, they created many chances but couldn’t convert them. Pedro Paolo missed two one-on-one chances against the opponent’s keeper while midfielder Nguyen Duc Hoang Minh got two comfortable tap-ins but he didn’t hit the target. However, it didn’t take long before Viettel equalized. Magno took a shot which forced the keeper to punch it out, but Paolo was quick to get a bicycle kick and scored. The equalizer took off the pressure from Viettel players and they got another goal from Paolo. This forward also assisted the third goal, which was scored by Hoang Minh. Vladimir Siladi of Hà Nội (left) opened the score for his team in a V.League 1 match against Nam Định on Sunday. The game ended 1-1. Photo of VPF HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội FC coach Chun Jae-ho said his team would have to find a suitable playing style without midfielder Nguyễn Quang Hải who has left for international competition. Vladimir Siladi opened the scoring at the 68th, and Marcio Marques levelled for Nam Định 10 minutes later in the late round three match, which was delayed because of players' COVID problems. A group of young people in Saigon are offering a different perspective on the city with their two-wheeled tours. Founded by Vo Hoang Phuc, Saigon Morning Ride has so far led about 100 tours across Saigon, the former name of Ho Chi Minh City but still popularly used now. “The more [tours] we do, the more interesting things we find in Saigon. Who said there was nothing exciting in Saigon?” Phuc said. Though Phuc believes it to be a shame that so few people are aware of all the interesting things to do in the city, he hopes to offer insights into Saigon’s hidden gems with tours of the city’s alleys, ancient tombs, rice roads, graffiti, Oc Eo Relic, and nighttime haunts. Cyclists take the ferry on the Saigon River early in the morning. AFC Cup: Viettel defeat Phnom Penh Crown 1-0
After Cambodian players lost control of the ball Viettel's Nguyen Hoang Duc stole it and passed it to Thuong who essayed a beautiful long shot from a distance of 30 meters to find the net in the ninth minute. As the match progressed, it was evident that the V-League 2020 champions were sticking to their defensive style, not taking the option to counterattack on several occasions. The start of the second half was difficult for Viettel and the team kept revealing gaps in its defence that Phnom Penh Crown were not able to take advantage of.
