During a teleconference to review 2022 activities of the Transport Ministry and launch its 2023 tasks on January 13, PM Chinh asked the sector and localities to develop transport infrastructure, one of the key and priority tasks this year while encouraging public-private partnership in the field. Illustrative photo (Source: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) - During seven days of the Lunar New Year Festival (Tet), the transport capacity and quality of road transport services improved drastically, said an official at a January 31 meeting of the Ministry of Transport . Tran Bao Ngoc, Director of the ministry's Transportation Department, informed the results in a series of statistics recorded during the holiday. Accordingly, 104 trains moved on the tracks with 188,487 passengers served, up nearly 137% and 196% from the same period last year, respectively. Meanwhile, Vietnamese airlines transported 967,000 passengers and 1,550 tonnes of goods, annual increases of 60.7% and 28.4%. Domestic port passenger and goods throughputs were recorded at 177,755 and 441,504 tonnes respectively. Located in the Phu Cat District, just 30km northwest of Quy Nhon City, the airport has already been upgraded to meet the operational standards of larger aeroplanes such as the Airbus A320 and A321 in recent years. In addition, the airport facilities have also received major upgrades to accommodate up to two million passengers a year to meet rising tourism demand in Binh Dinh and other neighbouring provinces. Phu Cat was still classified as a domestic airport in the national air travel infrastructure development plan 2021-2030, with a long-term vision to 2050. The upgrade of the 411km section, part of a project on renovating the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City rail route, has a total investment of nearly 1.1 trillion VND (46.8 million USD) funded by the state budget, and it traverses the provinces of Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Dong Nai and Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City. The PM made the affirmation at a reception for Yan Jiehe, Founder and Chairman of China Pacific Construction Group, one of China's largest private corporations in the field of transport infrastructure, in Hanoi on January 14. Prime Minister asks Army Corps 12 to speed up progress of major transport projects
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led a mission to visit the construction site of a section of the eastern North-South Expressway that runs through Can Tho city and Hau Giang province, which is being built by the Defense Ministry’s Army Corps 12 (or Truong Son Construction Group). The Prime Minister had an online meeting with the corps' affiliated units working on different localities across the country at the corps’ headquarters.
