A road under construction (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has been assigned to coordinate with related ministries to devise and propose policies and measures for attracting international financial funds and capital sources to public - private partnership ( PPP ) projects in Vietnam. This is among the tasks set by Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha with regard to PPP investment activities, according to the Government Office. In particular, the MPI was asked to work with other ministries to review the enforcement of the 2020 law on PPP investment, as well as obstacles to the implementation of the Government’s Decree 35/2021/ND-CP, dated March 29, 2021, that guides the law enforcement. Ministry urges prevention of Marburg virus from entering Vietnam
The Ministry of Health has asked the People's Committees of cities and provinces nationwide, the Pasteur Institutes and hygiene and epidemiology institutes to strengthen prevention and control of the Marburg virus disease. Illustrative image (Photo: Internet) The Marburg virus causes an acute infectious disease, which naturally resides in fruit-eating bats (Rousettus aegyptiacus). The disease is transmitted from animals (bats, primates) to humans, or from person to person through direct contact with bodily fluids, or with environments/objects contaminated by the bodily fluids of a person infected or deceased from the Marburg virus. The incubation period of the disease ranges from 2 to 21 days. Patients initially show signs of high fever, headache, discomfort, followed by diarrhea, abdominal pain, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, and bleeding. Dengue fever hits before rains this year
Vietnam has recorded around 13,000 cases of dengue fever so far this year, about 2.3 times higher than the same period in 2022, according to the Ministry of Health. The rising numbers of cases have been recorded in mainly in central and southern localities, the General Department of Preventive Medicine reported. However, Hanoi has also not been spared. The capital’s Center for Disease Control (CDC) has recorded 172 dengue fever cases in 23 of 30 districts, a 20-fold increase from the same period last year. The health ministry said abnormal weather conditions have contributed to the rise in the number of cases. Normally dengue does not hit in such numbers until the rainy season. A surge in cases is expected soon as the country enters the rainy season, it added. On Monday, the ministry asked localities to ramp up environmental cleanup efforts to curb the spread of outbreaks. Gambling ads, adult content make Facebook ‘toxic’
Hoang Quan, an office clerk in Da Nang’s Thanh Khe District, says ads with scantily dressed women and gambling games often appear when he surfs the message board or watches Reels on Facebook. "The ads are suggested by Facebook and displayed at specific times: After 4 p.m. it is gambling; in the evening it is sexy and suggestive content," he said. Tuan Phuong of Ho Chi Minh City, another Facebook user, sees similar ads pop up constantly. "Toxic content appears next to posts. Every time I scroll through a few posts of my friends, the News Feed inserts a gambling ad," he says. He says he is flustered when he sees Facebook livestreams with inappropriate content when he is sitting with his child in the evenings. 100 cafes, eateries in downtown HCMC to open their toilets to public
The initiative came after Hanoi and HCMC, Vietnam's two biggest cities, were ranked near the bottom in a global ranking of public toilet density of 69 cities by QS Supplies, one of the largest bathroom wholesalers and retailers in the U.K. They have only 0.01 public toilets available per square kilometer, higher only than the Egyptian capital Cairo, which has 0.002. Paris topped the ranking, with the French capital having seven per square kilometer, followed by Sydney (3.64) in Australia and Zurich (2.9) in Switzerland. After the ranking made local headlines, the HCMC People's Committee ordered districts to build more public toilets, starting with District 1.
