Pham Thu Hang, deputy head of the Press Information Department and deputy spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has been promoted to acting head of the department and official spokesperson of the ministry. The ministry organized a ceremony to hand over the promotion decision to the new spokesperson on Thursday. As per the decision, Hang becomes the fifth female spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Her predecessor is Le Thi Thu Hang, who serves as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. OVs visit Truong Sa, DK1 platforms
The visit was in the program themed “10th Trust and Aspiration for the Fatherland - Overseas Vietnam (OVs) to Truong Sa,” which concluded on April 23 in Khanh Hoa province. This was the tenth trip jointly organized for OVs by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' State Commission for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (SCOV), and the Naval Command. According to Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, since 2013, the SCOV and the Naval Command have brought over 500 OVs to visit Truong Sa island district and the DK1 platforms. Mr. Vu highlighted these visits which have helped confirm Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago and give OVs chances to exchange with their compatriots at home, thus enhancing the great national unity bloc.
