HCM City’s Notre Dame Cathedral restoration extended
The renovation of Ho Chi Minh City’s iconic Notre Dame Basilica, which began in mid-2017, will be extended until 2027 due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The information was given by Lam Ngo Hoang Anh, office manager of the HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The HCM City’s Notre Dame Cathedral is undergoing the restoration Anh said that the VND140-billion (USD6 million) restoration project that started in 2017 was scheduled to be finished in 2023. However, the prolonged Covid-19 pandemic had slowed the import of construction materials from France and Germany. So the project which is invested by the Ho Chi Minh City Archdiocese would need to continue for another four years. At the conference In November 2020, leaders of the People’s Committees of seven localities signed an agreement on tourism development cooperation. The program will focus on state management of the tourism industry, the development of tourism human resources and tourist products, and tourism promotion. According to a report, seven cities and provinces received a total number of visitors of 17.7 million and earned VND63, 000 billion (US$2.7 billion) in tourism revenue in 2021. In the first six months of this year, the business outcome of tourism activities saw positive signs thanks to tourism reopening policies. The land lot of Pham Thanh Huong is eroded, but is not allowed to reinforce due to complicated administrative procedure One day at the end of this June, inhabitants of Hamlet 3 in Binh My Commune of Cu Chi District suddenly heard a bang. Rushing out of their house, they frightenedly saw a 20-meter-long and 3-meter-wide section of the current embankment being eroded by the river. For fear of this incident could threaten their life, these people worked with the local authorities to temporarily reinforce this embankment with coconut piles and sand. The section next to it is also subsided by nearly 20cm compared to the road surface, almost separating itself from the whole embankment. Huge transport investment expected to vitalise central regions
For over a month now, relevant personnel at the Ministry of Transport is busy with the final preparations to soon hand over Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot Expressway to the people’s committees of Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces. In light of Decision No.17/QD-TTg dated July 28, two out of three components under Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot Expressway will be assigned to two localities having the road passage for management. The 32km-long first component with an estimated investment value of $244.8 million will be assigned to Khanh Hoa's People’s Committee while the 48km-long third component valued at around $282 million will be assigned to Dak Lak's People’s Committee.
