In 2021, the throughput of goods through HCMC-based seaport reached 164.19 million tons, an increase of 40.5 percent compared to that of 116.94 million tons in the planning by 2020, exceeding 2.63 percent compared to that of 159.98 million tons in the planning by 2030. Can Gio Wharf area at the Cai Mep Estuary is at a location with favorable natural conditions in terms of channel depth and on international maritime routes that can accommodate container ships with a tonnage of 250,000DWT (24,000 TEUs) operating on routes to Europe, Africa, and America. HCM City calls for investment in many projects at the Viet Nam – Europe Business Forum held on Thursday. — VNA Photo Xuan Anh HCM City offers numerous investment and business opportunities for European businesses, a Viet Nam – Europe Business Forum heard on June 30. The event organised by the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre in HCM City heard that the city is soliciting investment in 197 projects in a number of areas such as traffic infrastructure, agriculture, housing, and healthcare. They include the US$761 million Elevated Road No 1 from Tan Son Nhat Airport to the city centre and the $255 million Northern Saigon 2 Wastewater Treatment Plant in Thu Duc City. Adani Group to pour $10 billion in Vietnam including Lien Chieu Port
In the framework of the seminar on spurring Danang’s development as a place to come and live, which was organised on June 27, the leader of Danang People’s Committee approved the joint venture to study the investment feasibility of Lien Chieu Port. The infrastructure of the port will combine a harbour area, a container yard, a warehouse complex, piers, waterways, and a transport system, among others. This project is expected to handle ships with a capacity of 100,000DWT and container ships of up to 8,000TEU. The total cargo going through these harbours would be 3.5-5 million tonnes per year. The development of Lien Chieu Port is one of two key projects that aim to turn the central city into the main logistics centre in ASEAN and the East-West Economic Corridor that links Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Trade promotion plays a key role for the dairy sector How has the dairy sector recovered from the pandemic? Despite the prolonged pandemic, the domestic dairy market still reached VND113.7 trillion in revenues in 2020 and VND119.3 trillion in 2021. The country produced about 1.77 billion liters of fresh milk in 2021, up 4.5 percent compared to 2020, while powdered milk volume saw positive growth of 13.1 percent year-on-year to 151,500 tonnes. Vietnamese dairy businesses have strengthened trade promotion activities and sought export markets. Currently, Vietnamese dairy products are available in 50 countries and territories.
