According to a recent survey conducted by the Incheon International Airport Corporation from August 7 to August 24 regarding passenger opinions, Vietnam is chosen by 14.5% of the respondents, ranking second on the list of most favored international travel destinations for Chuseok. Japan topped the list with a rate of 28.2%. Vietnam also placed second among preferred travel destinations for those aged 20 and 30 (13.8% of respondents) and those aged 40 and 50 (12.8% of respondents). This year, for the first time, the South Korean government designated October 2 as a one-off temporary holiday, extending the length of the Chuseok holiday to six days. If employees use their annual leave, they can enjoy a free-from-work period of up to 12 days. Khau Vai pass: wild canyon in northern Vietnam
The Khau Vai Pass is a scenic canyon in the north of Meo Vac District, near the border of Ha Giang and Cao Bang provinces. It lies within the Khau Vai hydropower reservoir area, about 20 to 25 km from the town of Meo Vac. It is almost 300 km away from Hanoi and takes 8 to 9 hours to reach from the capital by car. Like the famous Tu San Alley at the foot of Ma Pi Leng Pass, which is one of the most magnificent canyons in Southeast Asia, the Khau Vai Alley has two towering cliffs and a green river flowing between them. Troops actively support flood-hit victims
In Nghe An province, some districts of Quy Chau, Thanh Chuong, Con Cuong, Do Luong, Quy Hop and Ky Son suffered from heavy rains and flooding. Especially in Quy Chau district’s Tan Lac town, over 250 houses were flooded, causing severe damages to assets and properties. Hence, the Quy Chau district Military Command have sent 30 servicemen and vehicles to evacuate local people and their properties. Local militiamen are present at heavily-flooded roads to warn residents. According to Colonel Vuong Dinh Hanh, Political Commissar of the Ky Son district Military Command, his troops are supporting local people to move elderly, children and properties to higher places in Ta Ca commune, Ky Son district. Hoi An Mid-Autumn Festival parade delights locals, foreigners
The Hoi An People's Committee organized the parade to mark the Mid-Autumn Festival. The parade began with the moon hanging high in the sky, and the procession marched along the town's main streets: Tran Phu, Bach Dang and Le Loi. Several foreigners could be seen in the crowd watching the parade, and some were even sporting Vietnamese traditional dress ao dai and holding star lanterns in hand. Some foreign tourists said they had a "very exciting" experience watching the parade and the lion dance performances. Foreigners watch the parade from both sides of the street. At 8 p.m., the rain came, causing the parade to die down a bit. Several stores were closed and certain areas experienced blackouts.
