Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen casts his ballot on July 29 (Source: VNA) Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced on August 2 that a new government will be formed on September 20 after his ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) won the July 29 general election. Speaking to thousands of garment workers in Phnom Penh, Hun Sen said King Norodom Sihamoni will chair the opening session of the new parliament on September 19. Then the new parliament will vote for the formation of a new government on the following day. On September 20 morning, the new government will be formed, and a sworn-in ceremony will be held in the afternoon, and on September 21, the first new Cabinet meeting will be convened, he stated. Cabinet members reported that inflation has been controlled, the macro economy has been stabilized and measures including reduced interest rates and tax exemption and deferment have helped to remove difficulties for business production. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said the target of inflation control is feasible but that it will be difficult to obtain a 5.5% economic growth rate this year: "We should continue to stabilize the macro economy and control inflation. It's essential to improve the quality of growth and competitiveness." BANGKOK, July 13, 2011 (AFP) - Thai prime minister-in-waiting Yingluck Shinawatra said Wednesday that she was confident that alleged campaign irregularities which are holding up her appointment would be dismissed. Thailand's Election Commission on Tuesday put off a decision on whether to approve Yingluck and 141 other candidates, including outgoing premier Abhisit Vejjajiva, as members of the 500-seat lower house. "There's still time left under the law. I think the EC is trying to finish its investigation," she said. "I hope and am confident that the EC will treat me and my Puea Thai Party with fairness and justice."
