In this solo exhibition, Quoc Khanh presents 15 oil paintings. With the theme of public argument regarding social issues such as environment, education and others, in a decorative and pop-art style, his paintings show a vibrant, multi-tone space with bright, lively, contrasting colors with interlaced, overlapping shapes with so many details. Exhibit puts fashion photography in the frame
Exhibit puts fashion photography in the frame (05-12-2007) Ha Noi — The seam between fashion and photography is being unpicked at a new exhibition titled Contours in the capital this week. UK designer Victoria Roe's one-off pieces framed by photographers Ngo Xuan Phu of Viet Nam and Adrian Buitenhuis from Canada create a show of art for art's sake, on display at the 2-level French villa Mosaique. Shot at the Viet Nam Circus Federation's national arena in Ha Noi, model Ha Vy is seen draped over seats in the arena or poised infront of a mirror in the training room. Also on display are several installations, including pieces that further push the boundary of fashion and photography by simply displaying garments between sheets of perspex. The strong colours and simple shapes of the clothes bring to mind the 'contours' that define the show and direct the viewer to the lines between the different cultures present in each work. "Fashion in Viet Nam is becoming more international, just … [Read more...] about Exhibit puts fashion photography in the frame

Halong Bay takes FIAP’s masters’ fancy
6 among 15 of the Masters of FIAP (International Federation Photographic of Art), whose photos are being showcased at the Vietnamese Fine Arts Museum in Hanoi, traveled with Vietnamese photographers to Halong Bay. Foreign photographers were well equipped with their professional Canon and Nikon cameras. Tay Poey Cher, a professional Singaporean photographer, brought a Nikon D3. Vietnamese photographers present were Duy Anh, Lai Dien Dam, Nguyen Dan, and Hong Trong Mau. Cruising around the bay for two days, they worked together and exchanged their professional experiences. At dawn, cameras were made ready for shooting. However, foreign and Vietnamese photographers showed different approaches to different scenes, given their different cultural backgrounds. And, along with contemplating landscapes in the bay, FIAP members were also attracted by more mundane Vietnamese things, such as a scene of the cooking of duck's blood.
