Jointly organized by the Ministry of War Veterans and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Committee of Algerians abroad, the event gathered hundreds of delegates from the Algerian government, historical witnesses of the Algerian revolution of various nationalities, and foreign researchers. Vietnam was one of the first countries to recognize the provisional government of Algeria (September 26, 1958), four years before the North African country actually gained independence. Participants discussed topics related to human values, the charters of the Algerian revolution and its role in strengthening relations with countries around the world. On the sidelines of the event, exhibitions are being arranged to introduce historical books and photos on friends of the Algerian revolution. Britain historian highlights significance of President Ho Chi Minh’s trip to London
Talking to Vietnam News Agency, Callow held that London was a destination for Ho Chi Minh after a long journey to many other places because that was known as the workshop of the world. It was the cradle of the Industrial Revolution, the center of the greatest empire in terms of land mass that the world had ever known, and the world's top financial center. His journey is intensely practical and a way to discover the politics, the economics and the cultures of very different civilizations, the scholar stated. He stressed that it was a brave step for Ho Chi Minh to leave his homeland with a desire to learn, to witness with his own eyes the fast changing world, and to see for himself the bases of the imperial power. “During his tour, he got a sense of change, a possibility and the power of an organised working class to make progressive change. He could take certain lessons back home with him to change the lives and the realities of the Vietnamese people for the better. The French corporation gets about five million applications for roughly 15,000 new positions each year. The vast number of applications took up a great deal of L’Oreal’s money and time for the personnel selection process. Things got easier when the corporation adopted a modest approach by applying AI to the recruitment process in an intern programme. A representative of L’Oreal said that 12,000 applicants with 80 spots were quickly processed by AI, saving 200 recruiting hours compared to the previous full human-powered review process. Meanwhile, Unilever, one of the world’s leading multinational companies specialising in food, home, and personal care products, also said that around 70,000 person-hours of interviewing and assessing candidates had been cut, thanks to the … [Read more...] about AI tech solutions helping to fast-track recruitment in HR

Some 59.1 million people were registered as internally displaced worldwide in 2021 -- an all-time record expected to be broken again this year amid mass displacement inside war-torn Ukraine. Around 38 million new internal displacements were reported in 2021, with some people forced to flee multiple times during the year, according to a joint report by the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) and the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC). That marks the second-highest annual number of new internal displacements in a decade after 2020, which saw record-breaking movement due to a string of natural disasters. Last year, new internal displacements from conflict surged to 14.4 million -- marking a 50-percent jump from 2020 and more than doubling since 2012, the report showed. Acceleration urged for treatment of child malnutrition
UNICEF continues to gather global evidence on the rising levels of malnutrition among children. All forms of this disease are prevalent in Vietnam, where the estimate based on the 2019 annual nutrition surveillance revealed that 230,000 children under the age of five suffer from severe acute malnutrition (SAM) annually. Malnutrition is listed as a disease in the World Health Organisation's (WHO) International Classification of Diseases, and it is preventable and treatable. Wasting, defined as low weight-for-height, is the most visible and lethal type of malnutrition. Severe wasting – when children are too thin for their height resulting in weakened immune systems – is the most immediate, visible, and life-threatening form of the disease. Worldwide, at least 13.6 million children under five suffer from severe wasting, resulting in one in every five deaths among this age group. Given the close links between SAM, growth stunting, and mortality, interventions aimed at the prevention … [Read more...] about Acceleration urged for treatment of child malnutrition
