Indonesia, Papua New Guinea strengthen tourism cooperation
Hanoi (VNA) – Indonesian Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said his ministry will collaborate with Skouw Cross-Border Post (PLBN), Jayapura, Papua, Chief Administrator Yan Numberi, for tourism and creative economy development in Indonesia-Papua New Guinea (PNG) border. The official was quoted by local media as saying that the ministry will carry out two agendas to revive the tourism sector and the creative economy in border areas. The high-tech method aims to contribute to ensuring social order and security, reduce time for check-in procedures, and increase accuracy. Facial recognition technology can also improve the prevention and detection of passengers using fake documents, and detect those who are banned from flying or wanted criminals that cross borders. Recently, the authority hosted a meeting to discuss issues related to legal regulations on applying the technology. Vietnam to block payment for unlicensed games
There are hundreds of thousands of unauthorized games, card games, and gambling games which cause insecurity and disorder as well as bad consequences for the society, the ministry’s Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information said at a meeting on Thursday. The unauthorized games, mainly released on the App Store, Google Play, and online gaming platform Valse Stream, are estimated to generate an annual revenue of nearly VND5 trillion ($211.86 million), accounting for 30% of the total revenue of the game industry in Vietnam. The ministry is requiring organizations and businesses that provide intermediary payment services not to allow payment for unauthorized games through their systems. In the case of payments via IAP (in-app purchases), they should ask Apple and Google to provide sufficient information about the transaction to block the payment. Travelers struggle with Vietnam’s e-visa procedures
Australian tourist Melissa had planned to fly her family to Vietnam from Bali on December 21 last year. So, she applied for e-visas 10 days in advance. After completing the application, the official Vietnam Immigration Department website stated that "your e-visas will be processed within three working days." A week later, Melissa's application was approved, but the applications for her husband and two children were refused. They were asked to submit new portrait photos. Melissa's family then sent new photos and postponed their travel plans until December 24. But by their new travel date they had yet to receive a response from the immigration department. They decided to still go to the airport on the day of their tickets hoping to get to Vietnam. But the family was refused entry without visas. "The response time is too long.
