The World Bank (WB) built wind-to-power potential maps for Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. According to the mapping result, Vietnam's wind power potential can exceed 500,000 MW, much greater than that of regional countries. As of May 2013, more than 50 wind-to-power projects were licensed in Vietnam, mostly located in the central and southern region. Recently, the World Bank has built wind power potential map for Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. As a result of this map, Vietnam's wind power potential may be more than 500,000 MW. Vietnam's entire capacity of the electrical system is about 25,000 MW. If exploit this power potential, the total wind power capacity could be more 20 times than the moment total power capacity. The World Bank Vietnam has assessed that Vietnam has higher wind power than other countries in the region. Until May 2013, more than 50 wind power registered investment projects mostly in the central and southern provinces.
