No karaoke, bars, gyms as HCMC resumes non-essential services

The decision was made Thursday by the city Vice Chairman Duong Anh Duc after the southern metropolis went 14 days without any Covid-19 community transmission. Under the latest decision, wedding centers, restaurants, movie theaters and other places of recreation would reopen next Monday. Tourism activities, transportation, catering services, shopping centers, museums, historical relics and libraries are also allowed to reopen, but must ensure a minimum distance of one meter between two people. Catering establishments are banned from accommodating more than 30 people. City authorities have also allowed the organization of religious events but gatherings of more than 50 people at a time are banned. Vietnam's largest city has shut down all non-essential services since Feb. after recording a series of community transmissions linked to a cluster at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Of the 36 community transmissions HCMC has recorded in the nation’s latest outbreak that began on Jan. 28, one is linked to Hai Duong Province, Vietnam's current Covid-19 epicenter, and 35 with the airport. Vietnam to host 2021 World Team Tennis season in mid-June

The four- day competition is expected to take place at Hai Dang Tennis Club in Tay Ninh Province. According to the regulations, Vietnam team will compete with eight national tennis teams of Hong Kong (China), Syria, Sri Lanka, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, Malaysia and Pacific Oceania including players from Oceanian countries except for Australia and New Zealand. 2021 World Team Tennis season will take place at Hai Dang Tennis Club in Tay Ninh Province. Vietnamese top tennis players including Ly Hoang Nam, Trinh Linh Giang, Le Quoc Khanh, Pham Minh Tuan, Nguyen Van Phuong, Vu Ha Minh Duc, Nguyen Dac Tien under training of Head Coach of Vietnam national tennis team Truong Quang Vu will join in the regional sport event. According to General Secretary of Vietnam Tennis Federation Mr. Doan Thanh Tung, the Vietnam Tennis Federation will ask the World Tennis Federation to suspend the event if the pandemic situation is more complicated. The Ministry of Health has reported eight fresh Covid-19 patients, with seven locally-transmitted cases in Hai Duong Province and one imported case in Tay Ninh Province – PHOTO: VNA HCMC – The Ministry of Health has reported eight fresh Covid-19 patients, with seven locally-transmitted cases in Hai Duong Province and one imported case in Tay Ninh Province, taking the country’s tally to 2,420 as of tonight, February 25. Five Covid-19 cases in Hai Duong Province tested positive after they had been put at concentrated quarantine centers, while the two others in the province were detected through screening. They are receiving treatment at the field hospital No. 1 and 2 in the province. Another case reported in Tay Ninh Province is a 25-year-old woman. She entered Vietnam through Moc Bai International Border Gate in the province on February 22 and was immediately quarantined. In related news, the HCMC government has decided to allow some non-essential services such as wedding venues, cinemas, restaurants, eateries, museums and libraries; and tourism activities to resume from March 1. The service providers must follow Covid-19 infection prevention and control measures, including wearing face masks, keeping a safe physical distance and avoiding mass gatherings of over 30 persons.
