Russian experts have joined the preservation of President Ho Chi Minh’s body for over 50 years since he passed away in 1969. Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh today met a delegation of Russian scientists to whom he extended thanks for their support in keeping the embalmed body of Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh unharmed. Authorities in Lai Chau and Son La Provinces, northern Vietnam are seeking the prime minister's approval for the construction of airports there. In a document sent to PM Pham Minh Chinh, the Lai Chau People’s Committee mentioned its plan to build Lai Chau Airport, which is designed to cover 167 hectares and have the capacity of 500,000 passengers per year, in Tan Uyen Town during the 2022-30 period. The administration stressed that the project plays an important role in promoting the province's socio-economic development as well as contributes to ensuring national defense and security in border areas. The province has carried out necessary land use planning and site clearance to attract the interest of investors in the project. Some investors are mulling over implementing the project under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia has seen a significant rise in both drug arrests and seizures during the first seven months of 2022, the Anti-Drug Police Department (ADP) reported on August 13. Cambodia n authorities apprehended 9,151 drug related suspects during the January-July period this year, up 16% from 7,876 in the same period last year, it said, adding that about 3.27 tonnes of illicit drugs had been seized, up almost 240% from 963 kg. The seized drugs included heroin, ecstasy, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills, cathinone and ketamine, among others. Additionally, about 201 tonnes of drug ingredients, 17 pistols, 31 rifles and many vehicles and devices had been confiscated from the suspects. Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen has called for concerted efforts to combat illegal drugs, saying that fighting against illicit drugs is a priority. (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on August 14 attended a conference reviewing the 30-year cooperation between the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board and the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (VILAR) in preserving the corpse of the late Vietnamese leader. In 1992, when the agreement between Vietnam and the former Soviet Union became invalid, with permission by the Vietnamese and Russian Governments, the Mausoleum Management Board and VILAR switched to direct cooperation in preserving the corpse of the President.
