But he also complained he probably would never get the honor. Trump, a Republican, capped off a rambling Rose Garden news conference with a well-oiled gripe that former Democratic President Barack Obama, a nemesis, won the Nobel Prize in 2009, just months into his first term in office. "They gave it to Obama. He didn’t even know what he got it for. He was there for about 15 seconds and he got the Nobel Prize. He said, ‘Oh, what did I get it for?’" Trump grumbled. "With me, I probably will never get it." Trump claimed he saved 3 million people living in Syria’s rebel-held Idlib region from being killed after he warned Russia, Iran and the Syrian government against a planned offensive. "Nobody talks about that," he complained. Attacks on the Idlib region have continued, though Trump said the strikes are done "surgically." He said Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had given him "the most beautiful copy" of a five-page letter in which Abe nominated him for the … [Read more...] about Trump makes his case for Nobel Peace Prize, complains he’ll never get it
Make him feel good
By Robert Bicknell Comedian Billy Crystal joined the cast of Saturday Night Live the 1984-85 season. His most famous recurring sketch was his parody of Fernando Lamas, a smarmy talk-show host whose catch phrase was “It is better to look better than to feel good and, darling, you look Mahvelous!” became a media sensation So, here’s an interesting question… Is it better to look good, or to play good? (Grammar critics stop screaming, I know “play good” is wrong, but it’s the only way it fits the set up correctly. Call it, artistic licence and shaddap). The reason behind this is that I see far too many people on the driving ranges trying to swing like Tour pros and failing miserably. The painstakingly compare their swings to what they see on YouTube and keep making changes, despite not having the physical characteristics or strengths of the player in the video. So the question is, do you want to look like you can play golf, or do you want to … [Read more...] about Look good, or play good?
Back to English Comments Other sports - January 15, 2019 | 10:01 am GMT+7 Much has been made of football crazy Vietnam, but last month, it just got much crazier. In case you missed it, while Vietnam was preparing itself for a small piece of football history last month in Hanoi, a very different group of footballers were battling it out for the title of Asia Pacific’s best freestyle footballer in a Ho Chi Minh City television studio. On December 14, the night before Vietnam’s ‘Golden Dragons’ wrapped up their first AFF Cup win since 2008, the World Freestyle Football Association (WFFA) hosted the top 16 of the Asia Pacific Freestyle Football Championships at an entertainment center in the city’s District 10. Tricking, juggling, flipping, balancing and generally flexing their way through a series of one-on-one battles set to music, the competition attracted 48 of the sports best exponents from all over Asia, including Iran, Australia, Japan, India, … [Read more...] about Vietnam gets a good taste of extreme football – VnExpress International

Nguyen Huu Tai, 60, lives in My Tho City, southern Tien Giang Province. He stumbled on this strange ability or property 13 years ago, when a stainless steel object got attached to his body. "I was eating when the spoon fell, but it stuck to me, which was very weird. I thought it was because of sweat, but the more I wiped the sweat off, the tighter it clung to me," Tai said. So he tested what happened with other stainless steel items and the same thing happened: they stuck to his body, defying gravity. At this time, he was busy with his business, so he did not explore this phenomenon further. Tai with 6 stainless-steel knives sticking to his body. Photo by VnExpress/Phan Than During the last Moon Festival, also known as the Mid-Autumn Festival, Tai tried it again and his ability had not gone. "I took a photo of me and the attached knives and sent it to my friends. After that, many people came to know about my ability,” Tai said. His sister, a head physician at Tien Giang … [Read more...] about We are stuck on him: Vietnamese man attracts knives, tables
