Hanoi Times - Hanoi-based travelling companies are facing the decrease of their income due to the lack of hi-end rooms for visitors to Vietnam at peak period. A travelling firm’s representative said at the moment visitors can hardly find luxury hotel rooms in Hanoi as almost 90 percent of the rooms have been in use over the last two months despite the average rent price of 160 USD per room per day. According to CBRE Vietnam’s survey, the average rent price of five-star hotel rooms in Hanoi increased 34 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of this year and the booking rate of these rooms is always high. As a result, many travelling firms had to cancel their tourism contracts. Luxury hotel room prices see a sharp fall
Average prices of high-class hotel rooms in Vietnam fell by 31.9 per cent in 2009, according to figures released on June 8 th by Grant Thornton Vietnam. The firm believes that the global economic crisis had a long term and considerable impact on tourism and hotel sectors in Vietnam and across the world. Especially, five-star hotels were hit hard as tourists tended to cut down their spending during their tours and rich people seemed to travel less. However, the survey shows that proceeds from other tourist services like restaurants, spa, banquets and conferences rose 8.2 per cent. As a result, hotels still maintained their incomes in 2009. Luxury hotel rooms fully booked in Sapa
High-grade hotels and guest houses in Sapa Town, a popular tourist site in the northern province of Lao Cai, have been fully booked between April 28th and May 3rd during holidays of Liberation Day (April 30th) and Labour Day (May 1st). Many travel agencies in Hanoi, Danang, and Ho Chi Minh City have booked rooms in advance at luxury hotels, such as Victoria, Hoang Gia, Chau Long, Green Bamboo, Ham Rong and Southern Star, according to Le Manh Hao, Director of the Sapa Town’s Office of Culture, Sport and Tourism. Rooms at hotels and guest houses with medium services are still available. However, prices of these rooms are expensive. A double room in these hotels can cost between VND 1.2 million and 1.5 million, 8 times higher than usual.
