Experts in the field said this project falling behind schedule would make Tan Son Nhat International Airport in neighboring Ho Chi Minh City even more overwhelmed by a soaring number of air passengers and result in a large amount of opportunity cost for economic growth. Two more bridges connecting HCM City and Dong Nai proposed
HCM City (VNA) – The Transport Department of Ho Chi Minh City has proposed building two more bridges to enhance transport connectivity between the southern economic hub and its neighbour Dong Nai province. The bridges include Phu My 2 that links the southern part of HCM City with Dong Nai’s Nhon Trach district; and Dong Nai 2, connecting Thu Duc city in HCM City with Long Thanh district in Dong Nai. According to the Road Network Development Plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, there will be five bridges across a 40-kilometer river section between the two localities, namely Dong Nai, Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, Cat Lai and Phuoc Khanh, across a 40-kilometer section of the river. Of them, only two bridges, Dong Nai and Long Thanh, have been opened to traffic while Nhon Trach and Phuoc Khanh will not be completed until 2025 and work on Cat Lai bridge remains unknown given differences over where the bridge should be located. UNESCO promises tight partnership with Hanoi in heritage and relic conservation
As home to nearly 300 national treasures, Hanoi has a valuable source of ritual and cultural traits that tell its history of thousands of years. The development will be an important basis for the issuance of new regulations related to the visa policy, removing difficulties for the tourism industry, and creating conditions to attract more international visitors this year, according to most observers. Dang Tuan Viet, deputy director of the Ministry of Public Secrutity’s (MoPS) Vietnam Immigration Department, said that the proposal emphasised two major areas related to unilateral visa exemption and electronic visa policy. Photo: Chi Cuong At VIR’s roundtable discussion on seeking a boost for inbound tourism last week, editor-in-chief Le Trong Minh opened the roundtable with a fact-based observation, and noted that the country has yet to unlock the full potential of its tourism industry. “While the tourism sector contributes a significant 9.2 per cent of the country’s total GDP, equivalent to $32.8 billion, this number remains low compared to the global average,” he said. In 2023, the tourism sector aims to welcome eight million international visitors. While this is a modest number compared to the level achieved in 2019 of 19 million visitors, it is a challenging target as the market is undergoing many changes and new trends post-pandemic. Deputy Director of Da Nang Department of Tourism Nguyen Xuan Binh said that Japan is considered a key market of the city’s tourism with stable growth. The locality received more than 183,000 Japanese arrivals in 2019, an increase of nearly 200% compared to 2015 (92,000 arrivals). Since Vietnam reopened to international tourism in March 2022, the city has welcomed about 27,000 Japanese visitors.
