The VN-Index on the Hồ Chí Minh Stock Exchange increased over 14.6 points, or 1.21 per cent, to close Wednesday at 1,266.11 points. The recovery helped recoup most of the losses hit in the last two sessions. On the southern bourse, breadth of the market returned to a positive zone with 275 stocks advancing, while 52 ended lower. US employers to see biggest healthcare cost jump in a decade in 2024
Benefit consultants from Mercer, Aon and Willis Towers Watson see employer healthcare costs jumping 5.4% to 8.5% in 2024 due to medical inflation, soaring demand for costly weight-loss drugs and wider availability of high-priced gene therapies. A survey conducted by Mercer, a unit of Marsh McLennan, found over two thirds of employers either do not plan to shift any cost increase to their staff or will pass on less than the expected rise in 2024. "They don't want to add more financial stress on employees who are also coping with inflation, especially in this time where they're really relying on their health benefits as a way to keep employees working for them," said Beth Umland, Mercer's director of health & benefits research. Vietnam Investors Service and Credit Rating Agency JSC (VIS Rating) was established by the Vietnam Bond Market Association, and received an operating licence from the Ministry of Finance on September 18. With a 49 per cent holding, Moody's is the majority shareholder in VIS Rating. Along with Moody's, ACB Securities Company, Dragon Capital Finance Ltd., Nam A Bank Asset Management Co., Ltd., VNDIRECT Securities Corporation, and VPS Securities JSC are also founding stockholders. VIS Rating operates independently of Moody’s. The investment was made by the Mekong Enterprise Fund IV (MEF IV) under Mekong Capital. According to PwC's research, 96 per cent of Vietnamese consumers are willing to pay for products produced by companies with good business ethics, while 68 per cent of the next generation believes that businesses have a responsibility to combat climate change and its related consequences. At a business level, ESG commitment levels are high, with 80 per cent of companies having made ESG commitments or plans to do so soon.
