Viet Nam News HÀ NỘI — A Vietnamese student team from the Wellspring School in Hà Nội has won the Innovative Poster Award of the First Lego League Jr. World Festival Expo, part of the three-day 2018 First Lego League event held in Houston, the United States, which wrapped up on Saturday. The competition offers four top Innovative Awards, one in each category of Poster, Model, Programming and Research. This year is the first time Việt Nam has sent representatives to the competition. The Innovative Poster Award this year was given to three teams: Team 14537, Wellspring of Việt Nam; Team 6007, the Water Saviors of Tampa, Fla. and Team 9808, the Sea Mustangs of Sugar Land, Texas. Vietnam students to compete at FIRST LEGO League in the US
Surpassing almost 200 teams from 120 schools nationwide, three teams from Le Ngoc Han Primary School and Western Australian International School in HCM City, and Wellspring School in Hanoi championed at the FIRST LEGO League Vietnam 2018, which took place in HCM City on January 27-28. They will compete at the world event in Houston in late April.FIRST LEGO League is an international scientific and technological event held annually for students aged 6-16. Lotte Mart wants city children to help needy kids By Hoang Vy in HCMC Lotte Mart shopping centers are looking for children to take part in their ‘Learning good things, giving dreams’ campaign which starts on Friday until May 19. The program will collect toys, comic books and stationery from children in the city to donate to needy children. A child can donate two toys or more to Lotte Mart and receive an encouraging gift like a 10% to 40% discount voucher to buy toys at Lego, Toy City, Kiko and Funny Land stores by drawing lots and they will also have unlimited time to have fun at the Playtime entertainment area. All donations will be given to orphans and disadvantaged children in a charity trip which is expected to be held from May 21 to 22 by Lotte Mart. Disadvantaged children receive 480 packages of Lego
The Ho Chi Minh City Child Welfare Foundation coordinated with the Viet Tinh Anh Joint Stock Company January 10 to offer disadvantaged, orphaned and disabled children 480 packages of Lego toys worth VND2.5 billion (US$13,000). A ceremony was held at the Inter Continental Asiana Saigon Hotel to offer the gifts to the children from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho City. More than 500 children from charitable centers, and 150 children from Minh Dao Primary School in HCMC's District 5, took part in a Lego-assembling competition themed "Children's Dream" during the ceremony. The toys were offered by Denmark's Lego Group in conjunction with the Viet Tinh Anh Joint Stock Company following an official visit by the Queen of Denmark in November 2009.
