Hoi An-Japan cultural exchange kicks off
The 10th Hoi An-Japan cultural exchange opened in the city of Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam on August 24, as part of activities to celebrate the 39th anniversary of the Vietnam-Japan diplomatic ties. The event, included in the National Tourism Year for the North Central Coastal Area-Hue for 2012, started with a performance featuring traditional arts and music of both countries. This is also a chance for Hoi An lovers in Japan to gather, contributing to strengthening the sound relations between Vietnam and Japan. Hoi An boiled corn goes to the US
Corn on the cob is much favored by the residents of Hoi An ancient city in the central province of Quang Nam. The city's boiled corn is so sweet-smelling that tourists keep it in their minds. Walking along small moss-grown streets in Hoi An, tourists can see vendors sell boiled and grilled corn. In the hustle and bustle of the town, English, Japanese, Chinese and Thai can be heard. These vendors hawk their goods in a dialect of central Vietnam. The sweet smell of the corn makes tourists stop and look. Corn boiled by Le Thi Truc in Xuyen Trung village in Cam Nam Ward is famous for its delicious taste. Though there are some corn venders who have learned how to boil corn from Ms. Truc, no one is as successful as her. Her village has been nationally famous for corn on the cob for years. Over 40,000 maps of Hoi An tourism given for free
Tourists to Hoi An City yesterday received the first of more than 40,000 maps from Hoi An tourism, which have been published for tourists free of charge. This project is jointly organised by Quang Nam Province’s Tourism Association, the Representative Office of UNESCO in Hanoi and Robin Tauch & Partner Foundation. Under this project, maps will be delivered at ticket booths and hotels across the City. With such a map, tourists will find it easy to reach some 52 tourist spots in the centre of the old quarters of Hoi An. Moreover, they will be directed to craft villages in the outskirts of Hoi An city, such as Kim Bong Wood, Cam Kim Mat and Tra Que Vegetables villages.
