What do foreign investors worry about when investing in VN infrastructure projects?

There are three problems which may make foreign investors shrink when considering investment in transport infrastructure projects in Vietnam. Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The, speaking at the National Assembly session discussing the Investment Law under the PPP mode on November 11, said that the ministry has promoted investments under the mode, but Vietnam can only attract Vietnamese investors. There are three problems which may make foreign investors shrink when considering investment in transport infrastructure projects in Vietnam. US experts: China should refrain from actions further militarising East Sea

(Photo: AFP) Washington D.C (VNA) – China and other concerned nations should refrain from actions that further militarise the East Sea and parties need to sit down for negotiation via diplomatic channels to resolve the issue, according to an US expert. China’s growing militarisation of the East Sea makes the situation more complicated and probably causes misunderstanding in an area that has already suffered from many conflicts and complexity, Lindsey Ford, Director for Political-Security Affairs at the US’s Asia Society Policy Institute told Vietnam News Agency during a recent briefing by the University of Pennsylvania’s global research centre Perry World House. Vietnam expands international cooperation in maritime issues

Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung (Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The promulgation of Resolution 36-NQ/TW at the eighth session of the 12th Party Central Committee in October 2018 on the marine economic development strategy illustrates Vietnam’s broad strategic vision of turning the country into a strong maritime nation. In an article titled “Proactively enhancing and expanding external relations and international cooperation in maritime issues” published on Nhan dan (People) newspaper on January 11, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung said the resolution affirms Vietnam’s special attention to this matter. Work starts on five RoK-invested projects in Binh Phuoc

At the event, the provincial People’s Committee handed over investment licenses to the RoK companies - Hankuk Carbon, River Runs, Misung Industrial, Young Sung, Hankuk Advanced Materials. These firms rent 111ha in the complex and have registered to invest a total of USD 80 million in the projects which will produce carbon and glass fiber, and fishing tools. Hankuk Carbon CEO Moon-Soo Cho vowed to ensure construction progress of the project on schedule and in line with the country’s law. Binh Phuoc grants investment licenses to five RoK-projects Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Huynh Anh Minh welcomed the Korean investors’ selection of Binh Phuoc to build plants producing high-tech materials such as carbon fiber. Vietnam wants private electricity grid investment

According to statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), there are 120 renewable energy power projects in operation and more than 200 pending-for-approval projects.
