Vietnam’s southernmost province to delight visitors with shrimp-eating, octopus-catching contests
A shrimp festival will be organized in Ca Mau Province, the southern tip of Vietnam, for the first time between December 13 and 16, featuring shrimp-eating and octopus-catching competitions. Such distinctive contests will promisingly please visitors during the fest. Other activities, including a shrimp-drawing contest, a fishery guessing game, and a program of making sea creatures with coconut leaves, will delight revelers. Tran Hieu Hung, director of the Ca Mau Province Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said on Sunday that the event will also treat visitors to a seafood fest alongside seafood-based contests. Sixteen killed in accident at state-owned coal mine in China’s Guizhou province
BEIJING - Sixteen people were killed in a coal mine accident in Panzhou city in southern China's Guizhou province on Sunday, according to a filing by the mine's owner, Guizhou Panjiang Refined Coal Co, with the Shanghai Stock Exchange on Monday. All coal mines in Panzhou city have suspending production for a day, according to Shanghai-based commodities consultancy Mysteel. Guizhou's mine safety administration told Reuters it did not have information on the situation. The area has a total production capacity of about 52.5 million metric tons per year of mostly coking coal, representing about 5% of China's coking coal production capacity, according to Mysteel. The state-owned company, also called Panjiang Coal, has ordered safety inspections at all of its mines and has taken measures to ensure safe production, the exchange filing added. Since that time, the locality’s steering committee focused on admin reform, provincial competitiveness, and digital transformation has come up with a comprehensive suite of measures, along with enacting an action plan and calling on local management agencies at all levels to join forces. According to Tra Vinh Department of Planning and Investment, in the first eight months of this year, the province granted business registration to 365 units, reaching 70 per cent of full-year projection. Soc Trang lays out strategy for seaport’s special renovation
Becoming a stellar regional gateway is the goal for Tran De Seaport In August, the master plan was approved for Soc Trang province’s development direction for the rest of the decade and with a vision to 2050. Soc Trang is becoming one of the more well-developed provinces of the Mekong Delta. It develops industry, commerce, services, and modern and sustainable agriculture. It also wants to completely transform Tran De Seaport with a comprehensive and modern infrastructure system. Under the master plan, Soc Trang is oriented to develop its seaport system, with priority on attracting investment and building and developing Tran De into a regional gateway. The orientation is in line with a 2022 resolution on socioeconomic advancement to ensure national defence and security in the Mekong Delta, and accompanying documents. Czech Skoda cars launched in Vietnam
Before the Thanh Cong Viet Hung automobile plant in northern Quang Ninh Province comes into operation, Skoda cars will be imported from Europe. The imported models are the C-segment SUV branded Karoq priced at VND1-1.09 billion, and the D-segment SUV branded Kodiaq priced at VND1.19-1.41 billion. Then Thanh Cong will distribute C and D-segment sedans. After 2025, electric car models such as Enyaq iV and Vision 7S will be distributed in Vietnam. Covering an area of 36.5 hectares and boasting a capacity of some 120,000 vehicles per year, the Skoda automobile plant in Quang Ninh will assemble B-segment cars. This is the first Skoda factory in Southeast Asia. Skoda will also build a distribution system with four large dealers in four major cities first, and open 30 more dealers across Vietnam in the next five years. Japan’s Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko wandered along Nguyen Thi Minh Khai street in Hoi An Ancient Town on Saturday and greeted residents . The trip to Quang Nam was part of their official visit to Vietnam on September 20-25.
