Currently, Huu Nghi Border Gate handles customs clearance for about 750 vehicles per day, while its area for those carrying imports/exports can accommodate about 450 vehicles. So, vehicles are directed to non-tariff areas which have room for about 800 to 1,000. Meanwhile, from May 26 to June 5, over 630 trucks carrying durian to China went through the Tan Thanh Border Gate. On average, the border gate provides customs clearance for 300 vehicles per day while it can deal with about 1,100-1,200 at maximum. If the vehicles carrying agricultural products and fruits exceed the capacity, they will be directed to a non-tariff area that can deal with about 100. The local authorities are making efforts to remove obstacles facing investors in agrotourism. Outside Hanoi, Ba Vi Homestead in Ba Vi District's Van Hoa Commune has been a popular agritourism destination for Hanoi residents and visitors from neighboring areas for years. Hydropower plants stop electricity generation due to lack of water
Several hydropower plants in the northern region have suspended generating electricity due to the shortage of water amid massive power outages. The water level at the Thac Ba Reservoir has gone below the dead level Seven large dams in the north including Son La, Lai Chau, Huoi Quang, Thac Ba, Tuyen Quang, Ban Ve and Hua Na had reached dead storage levels, forcing them to suspend generating power. Only Hoa Binh hydropower dam has water and could maintain power generation until June 13, said Tran Viet Hoa, director of the Electricity Regulatory Authority under the Ministry of Industry and Trade. “The electricity supply situation in the north is facing major challenges because hydroelectricity accounts 43.6 percent of output,” he said at a meeting on Wednesday. Thunderstorms affect hundreds of flights to HCM City
Hundreds of flights to and from the Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City have been affected by bad weather. The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) announced on June 9 that 135 flights had been delayed or switched to land at other airports during June 4 and 5 as visibility reduced to just 1,200 metres due to thunderstorms at Tan Son Nhat. "On June 4, 89 flights were delayed at Tan Son Nhat, four others were switched to land at other airports and one returned to its departure airport," VATM said. "There were 46 flights delayed on June 5." VATM said that rains would occur more often during June, affecting the operation of flights at the Tan Son Nhat Airport. The airport is expected to serve nearly 24 million passengers during this summer holiday.
