Vietnam National University moved to Hanoi’s outskirt
The Vietnam National University's Hoa Lac campus is ready with all facilities and equipment for educational and research activities. The Vietnam National University (VNU)’s headquarter has been relocated to its newly built campus in Hoa Lac on Hanoi's outskirt this week. The campus is expected to be the most modern and advanced university town in Southeast Asia. Planned to cover about 1,113.7 hectares, the campus includes the Polytechnic School, a research center, and offices of the management board. Built with a total investment of VND22 trillion (nearly US$950 million), the college town consisting of nine member universities, eight institutes, 13 research centers, and four specialized high schools will provide training for more than 41,000 students. Vietnamese ‘blue berets’ plant trees in South Sudan
The activity was in celebration of the 132nd birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - 2022), towards the 8th founding anniversary of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations (May 27, 2014 - 2022), and 47th founding anniversary of Military Hospital 175 (May 26, 1975 - 2022). The tree-planting activity attracted the participation of a lot of local people who first joined the event with curiosity and then with excitement after learning the significance of the event. Some actively asked for more trees to plant and take care of the trees themselves. This activity was meaningful to both improving the landscape of the place for medical examination and treatment and boosting the two hospitals’ bond. This also helped improve the quality of life of the hospital staff and make the arid land of Bentiu green. Inspectorate urges HCM City to speed up restructuring of SOEs

Photo courtesy of the firm HCM CITY — HCM City needs to speed up equitisation to restructure state-owned enterprises and improve their efficiency, according to the Government Inspectorate. The equitisation of state companies is progressing at a tardy pace, a recent report by the inspectorate says. It also has shortcomings in terms of allocation of assets for equitisation, determination of enterprise value, determination of the ratio of state capital post-equitisation, and selection of strategic investors. According to the Ministry of Finance’s corporate finance department, many SOEs in the city are large and have complicated financial and land ownership structures, and so equitisation, especially evaluating their assets, is not easy. As of 2016 the city had 62 SOEs fully owned by the state, according to the Government Inspectorate. The fifth season of Shark Tank Vietnam, the reality show for start-ups, begins this week on VTV3 and will be broadcast every Sunday. It attracted thousands of start-ups and the 56 most outstanding have been selected for the show.
