Five days off for three national holidays announced
People will enjoy five days off during the Hung Kings’ Festival, Reunification Day (30/4) and Labour Day (May 1). The three consecutive holidays will last from April 29 to May 3. The Hung Kings’ Festival and Reunification Day will fall on Saturday and Sunday respectively, so people two days off on May 2-3. Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese people in Belarus and Bulgaria have joined their compatriots in the homeland and around the world in celebrating the Year of the Cat with different activities held recently. Vietnamese policeman suspended for kicking handcuffed man
A police officer in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre was suspended for repeatedly kicking a man who was handcuffed with his hands behind his back, a source told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Sunday. CCTV footage taken from a residence in Thanh Trieu Commune, Chau Thanh District, Ben Tre showed that the incident happened at 10:28 pm on January 20. In the video, which later surfaced on social media, a man wearing a Vietnamese police uniform kicked another man in a white shirt in the shoulder and stomach. The latter was already restrained with his hands behind his back. It was not until one of the other officers present at the scene noticed and pointed in the direction of the CCTV that the man wearing the police uniform stopped. The kicked man, who suffered ten kicks within one minute, was then led away.
