Vietnam up 39 notches in global quality of life index: CEOWORLD
Vietnam has greatly improved its living standards as it jumped 39 places to become the 62nd-best country worldwide for quality of life in 2021, according to a report by CEOWORLD . The Southeast Asian nation earned 78.49 points, ranking 62nd out of 165 countries and territories, registering a sharp improvement from its 101st position among 171 countries in 2020. It ranked seventh in the region, while Singapore took the lead with 87.64 points, followed by Thailand, the Philippines, and Malaysia. Singapore also held the 19th position in the global rankings. Finland was named the world’s best country for quality of life last year with 99.06 points, while Denmark and Norway ranked second and third, respectively. “Being safe, politically stable, and having a well-developed public health system drove Finland’s quality of life ranking to the top of the Best Countries 2021 list,” said CEOWORLD, a business and trade magazine. Peter Bernhardt, team leader of the ARISE+ Vietnam project Since coming into force in August 2021, the EU - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) has become an effective tool for boosting trade ties between the EU and Vietnam. What should Vietnam pay attention to in order to benefit more from this deal? I agree that the overall picture of EVFTA performance in this starting period, where exporters and government authorities from both sides have to adapt to the new situation, looks definitely promising. The EVFTA is the most ambitious FTA that the EU has ever signed with a developing country. The deal will mutually lift about 99 per cent of the tariffs within 10 years. Vietnam, Hungary to sign new parliamentary cooperation agreement
Hungary was the first European Union state to approve the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA). Vietnam and Hungary are expected to sign an agreement on cooperation between the two parliaments in replacement of the one inked in 2008. Vietnam’s exports to Hungary on the rise

Exports from Vietnam to Hungary increased eight-fold to 1 billion USD in 2020 from 124.2 million USD in 2016. The figure stood at 842.7 million USD in the first 10 months of 2021, up 5% year on year, according to data from the European country. Though shipments of agricultural and food products remain modest, the revenue posted a strong increase in the recent past as seen in some key exports. Vietnam exported almost 4.4 million USD worth of processed coffee to Hungary in 2020, surging 38-fold from four years earlier, and 7.13 million USD during January - October of 2021, up 85.6% year on year. Blue chip stocks hit weekly high
The index closed 17.34 points higher after losing 3.4 points Friday. Trading on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased by nearly 21 percent to VND12.32 trillion ($529.7 million). The VN-30 basket, comprising the 30 largest capped stocks, surged to the highest in a week with 26 tickers gaining. SSI of leading brokerage SSI Securities rose 6.7 percent, extending its gaining streak to the fourth session in a row. NVL of real estate developer Novaland closed 6.5 percent higher, with trading value highest since last December. Other winners included PNJ of Phu Nhuan Jewelry, up 6.1 percent, and HPG of steelmaker Hoa Phat, up 5 percent.
