PISA 2018 measures 15-year-olds’ ability to use their reading, mathematics and science knowledge and skills to meet real-life challenges in 79 participating countries and economies. The news has left many people raising their eyebrows while Vietnam was already among top 20 countries that had students gaining the best achievements under the PISA 2017’s ranking, which usually see the names of highly developed nations. Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang has become the first Vietnamese athlete to book a slot at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, after meeting the Olympic Qualifying Time (OQT) at the ongoing 18th FINA World Championships. Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang wins Vietnam’s first ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. On Tuesday (July 23) morning, the 2000-born swimmer competed in the men’s 800 m free freestyle and finished in 07:52.74, surpassing the OQT of 7:54.31 for the men’s 800m at the Games announced by the International Swimming Federation (FINA). Hoang's best achievement in this event is 07:50.20 when he won gold at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Argentina. Vietnam moved up to rank 88th among 193 countries in the United Nations E-Government Survey 2018. By the end of 2018, Vietnam’s adoption of the internet’s latest addressing scheme, known as IPv6, reached 23.78 percent, ranking it in 13th place in the world, sixth in Asia-Pacific, and second in ASEAN, with more than 13.2 million users. In addition, as many as 465,890 traditional domain names ending with “.vn” were developed. Vietnamese network providers, such as Viettel, Vinaphone and Mobifone have installed dozens of 3G and 4G Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) nationwide, serving more than 98 percent of Vietnam’s population.
