Nearly 1,500 prominent young Vietnamese and Chinese on Wednesday gathered in China's Guangxi Province to launch the Viet Nam - China Youth Festival Vietnamese and Chinese Youth Join Hands to Foster Friendship. The five-day event expects to attract more than 7,000 Chinese and 3,000 Vietnamese youth. Viet Nam to invest in infrastructure development
A total of VND5.18 trillion (US$265.64 million) will be allocated to State-owned companies for infrastructure development in 2011, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has announced. Of that figure, VND3.5 trillion will go to the Viet Nam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), VND45 billion to the Viet Nam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines), VND1.33 trillion to the Viet Nam Railway Corporation (VRC), VND215 billion to the Viet Nam Electricity (EVN) and VND60 billion to the Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT). A Viet Nam Cultural Week opened in Vientiane, Laos, this week. The six-day event will feature an exhibition on "Viet Nam Beauty" displaying handicrafts and fine arts products and photos of Viet Nam's landscapes, culture, country and people, art performances highlighting the Viet Nam - Laos partnership, and other activities. Organised by the two governments, the event seeks to promote the special friendship, solidarity, and comprehensive co-operation between them. Theo báo cáo Theo dõi kinh tế châu Á (Asia Economic Monitor - AEM) của Ngân hàng Phát triển châu Á (ADB) được công bố ngày 20-7, nền kinh tế Việt Nam đang trên đà đạt được mục tiêu tăng trưởng 6,5% trong năm nay. Trong một thông cáo từ văn phòng ADB tại Việt Nam về bản báo cáo trên, ADB nâng mức dự báo tăng trưởng năm 2010 đối với 14 nền kinh tế của Đông Á mới nổi từ mức 7,7% dự báo hồi tháng 4 năm nay lên mức 8,1%. Mức dự báo tăng trưởng kinh tế của khu vực năm 2011 vẫn ở mức 7,2%. Triển vọng kinh tế của các nước thành viên ASEAN cũng tốt đẹp trong năm 2010 sau năm 2009 đầy khó khăn. Các chỉ số kinh tế tiếp tục được cải thiện, với sự tăng trưởng mạnh trong sản xuất công nghiệp và lòng tin của người tiêu dùng gia tăng.
