Solutions for boosting socio-economic development and ensuring national security and defence in the Red River Delta till 2010 and 2020 were discussed at a conference in Hanoi on April 3. Under a Politburo resolution, the delta aims to become a key industrial region before 2020. To this end, the delta will build modern infrastructure systems to meet the requirements for socio-economic development, and fully tap its potential in terms of natural resources and human resources, particularly intellectuals and entrepreneurs. It will continue to play the role as the northern key economic region, contributing to the country's economic growth and serving as a springboard for other disadvantaged regions to develop. Workshop on monthly survey of key industrial products JICA-funded held in Danang
Within the framework of cooperation between the Danang Statistics Department and Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on "Research in Vietnamese Industrial Statistics Development", workshop to guide on monthly surveys of the Danang's key industrial products, the second of its kind in Vietnam, was held by the Danang Statistics Department on 27 October 2005. With the recent national economic development and global industrial cooperation, it is necessary to have exact statistics of international standards. To meet these requirements, Vietnam proposed the Japanese government carry out the "Research in Vietnamese Industrial Statistics Development" project. The research began in June 2004 and focussed on monthly statistics of industrial products and direct collection of data from manufacturing units. To develop the city's key industrial products in quality, effectiveness and scale and contribute to the quick and sustainable development of the local industrial sector, the Danang People's Committee has issued Decision No.163/2005/QĐ-UBND dated 9 November 2005 on supporting enterprises in the Key Industrial Products Development Program to 2010. Benefactiaries are Danang-based domectic industrial production enterprises that meet the requirements of Decision No.3067/QĐ-UB dated 11 April 2005 of the Danang People's Committee and have products listed as the city's key industrial products and selected to take part in the program 'Developing Danang Key Industrial Products to 2010". Vietnam, Japan pinpoint key industries for cooperation The Saigon Times Daily HCMC – Vietnam and Japan have chosen five strategic industries for joint development in the future, namely electricity-electronics, food processing, shipbuilding, agricultural machinery, and environment-energy efficiency. The two sides are considering adding four other potential industries: motorbike, textile-garment, steel and automobile, according to a report posted on the Government portal (chinhphu.vn) on Tuesday.
